When you were talking at 4:55 the Bulgarian ammo is copper washed steel cased ammo, not brass. An easy test is to take a magnet to it or scratch the copper wash on a rock. I generally keep my ammo separated by type so I can shoot the oldest stuff first (shoot the 1940's surplus before dipping into the 1980's). Something to keep in mind if you plan on long term stocking.

not really, its best to keep some silica packs with them to keep moisture out, but military ammo is sealed and doesnt really need it
@bigapple082812 жыл бұрын
By the way, you can see the date NATO ammo was made by looking at the rear of the case. For example, a 5.56mm made by Lake City in 2011 would say "LC 11" on the rear of the case. You can find out when those .308 tracers were made.

Regarding your tracer rds: Check the head stamp on the bottom of the brass casing for a date of manufacture. I'm fairly certain that that's Lake City ammo , ( technically called Federal Lake City)..and all of their ammo is stamped with the year of manufacture.

keep them in their original boxes unless you plan on shooting it soon. when rounds are loosely packed, the projectiles have a tendency to be pushed farther into their cases

Why do you mix different types of rounds? Just keep them in the box and put them in the can. I have thousands of loose rounds in cans, but it's all the same. And why do you mix 5.56 with .223? doesn't seem like a good idea.
@Mainsail7612 жыл бұрын
15:19 The year of manufacture should be stamped on the round. The Federal 5.56 brown box with Lake City brass I buy always looks this way. I bought some yesterday and it was stamped 12. I bet that stuff isn't as old as it looks. They just don't "pretty up" the brass for military use like they do the civilian stuff. Nice video!

Because in a SHTF or WROL scenario, a) the common or readily avail ones that you can find in abandoned locations, barter/trade for, or just swap with buddies are at most 4-5. If you stick with the common ones you will be doing great. But for god sakes who is going to have or want 7mm, and percentage wise 380 vs 40 or 9mm? b) Secondly, you spend more money buying so many different calibers than just a few in bulk. IMHO, I'd ditch the 7mm and 380, keep the rest, buy in groups of 5K

I don't see any risk of them getting pushed any farther into cases... but I think yo should get different wights / types seperate in case one type has an issue. Why would you mix 115 grain projectiles with 140 grain? Different uses / holds.

That's quite a bit of ammo. I've got some REAL old 30-06 from when i owned a Garand. In addition to my SAR-1 AKM i've got a 5.45 WASR-2 and also a 5.56 SAR-3 on the way. I know the corrosive stuff is fine for AKs but i'd prefer to buy non-corrosive if i can get it. Any particular favorites or are they all fairly equal? I've seen pretty good supplies of Silver Bear available locally. Although i'm certainly not opposed to the laquer coated stuff.

You obviously haven't understood what fiat currency is; or that us bond holders are actually loosing money not only every year but instantly upon purchasing a us bond. I'm not saying it will be tomorrow, but we are overdue based on the projected lifespan of fiat money in history. I'd suspect we have between 4 and 12 months... But I could be wrong, I'll take a vacation next year if I am..
