7.62x39 you can pick up cheap and it is everywhere. I think that will be the next ammo that is tough to find eventually. I buy 2 boxes every time I am in fleet farm while I do ask if they have 22s but NO is usually the answer.

a good "Bug In" stash for sure. my plan is to establish a remote location with water, food, heirloom seeds, ideally access to natural water sources. I've been looking at plots of land where I can build my bug out\ long term survival shelter. I will stock ammo but I probably will only have 3-4 varieties as my plan includes a .30-06 for large game, a shotgun for defense\ smaller game, and a pistol and/or revolver probably 9mm semi-auto and a .357 magnum revolver ( because they can also shoot .38 special.) I may stock some extra weapons and ammo in case Marshall law results in mass disarmament of the civilian population and my weapons are confiscated, not to say I won't try my hardest to hide them. I personally don't believe in a zombie Apocalypse I do believe any manner of natural or manmade disasters could occurs that would result in a mass scale disruption of civilization. One can never be to prepared. ( my plan is still a work in progress and I have tweaked and redone it at least a dozen times, the trickiest part is designing a resupply plan.)

In Italy we can have a limited quantity of ammo: 200 pistol rounds total+ 1000 rifle rounds total (only caliber approved for hunting) + 3 kg of powder You can change this a bit, like: 1500 rifle rounds + 2 kg of powder (200 pistol rounds still)... Blanks and primers have not limitation. With a special permission (for competitive shooters) the max you can have is: 1500 pistol+1500 rifle (only hunting allowed calibers)+5kg of powder. Best of the best... 22LR is not allowed for hunting, so that ammo fall in to "pistol ammo 200 total" (not 200 each caliber to be clear). If i where there... I would have a "Mount Sinai ammo stock pile like" and a STOL :)

Nice stash man! Just a tip, but I would look into either the PMC X-TAC or plain American Eagle (Lake City) instead of the Tula and PMC Bronze. Those are both .223 rather than 5.56 and as such are underpowered. You can get the American Eagle for $6.75 a box, and it's on stripper clips. The X-Tac is more, closer to $9, but it's beautiful ammo and is some of the more powerful 5.56 I've ever shot. Burn that nancy stuff up at the range and stack some 5.56 for the boogie men.

If U shop thier its hit or miss can't return anything fm the BC!;( finally filed down the 2 tapco's and they lock and cycle but not real confident in them? what in the Sam hill would a person need with a truck load of assorted calibers of ammunition? you can' t hold off an army by yourself. so really all you will ever need is a .22cal longs a good pump shotgun and a good side arm. other than that get you some good fishing gear and plenty of food and a good reliable water system because if tshtf that's what you're going to need.

Nice collection but why so much Tula, especially with the 9mm and .223, I know it's cheap but dude its a tradeoff, you can use it for AKs or SKSs and they will eat it up all day but not so much with the 9mm, in fact my buddy almost broke his beautiful Kimber 1911 in 9mm with one box of that stuff, ftf, FTE, stovepipes, he couldn't figure it out and he called me all pissed of about the brand new $1,000 handgun that was not shooting worth a damm, the first thing I asked him was what kind of ammo he was using, when he said Tula I told him to field strip and give his gun a light clean and decent oiling and then to go buy some brass ammunition, even if it was on the cheaper side and a couple boxes of some good stuff like Sig or Hornady for carry and self defense, he bought some magtech fmj and the two boxes of Sig and had me on speaker phone as he tried to not bug out thinking he bought a bad gun, all I heard was one careful shot after the other and him saying OK OK then after a minute, rapid confident firing without a hiccup, he came back to the phone and said, dude that totally worked, it was like a completely different gun, that's when I said, dude what do you feel like after eating McDonald's as opposed to say, a healthy pasta and or steak and potatoes dinner, think of it like that. The AK, SKS, and Mosin are like already obese women who live on Micky D's so it doesn't matter, but for a good semiautomatic AR15 platform with direct impingement, you really would benefit from brass ammunition and especially for semiautomatic pistols because they can be finicky especially when pushed, the last thing you want is ftfs and ftes during some apocalyptic scenario. Also, you really, really need more shotgun ammo, especially high brass buck and rifled slugs. You have such versatility with a couple 12 gauges, take advantage off it, a 12 gauge with high brass in it is the most destructive firearm you can have within the normal 25 ft or less defensive situations plus they make great bird and game loads for hunting in case you need food.

Interesting... I do hope your ammo cans have good moisture seals (gaskets) and these are in a shed or some place not close to where you sleep just incase of fire, unless you have a highly fire resistant safe or equivalent for it. This stuff burns very hot, some fire fighters get ticked off running in or on roof of a building trying to save peoples lives when this stuff starts to burn. Just say'n. Rained historic levels in TX and other regions in May 2015, several gun ranges got flooded, ammo and gun safes under 4-5' or more of water, electronic safe locks malfunctioned. All ammo is junk now. Most ammo can seals don't last that long (heat + cold + age) especially under a few feet of water. Have fun. Zombie SHTF may be flood, fire or heat wave not actual people coming to get you.

Van Prepper That sounds good. I am not an expert, but I have seen some storage habits that seem poor. Was at a gun show Saturday, saw paper boxes that looked like they had moisture damage, some with shrink wrapped plastic which may just trap moisture on box/ammo. People selling .22lr for 3-4x going retail price that might be full of duds due to extreme age and poor storage was my guess. I buy only when I find at good prices and store at what I consider dry but not sealed in moisture, i.e. some breathability on individual boxes is good. Above standing flood water, don't open ammo cans on humid days, only open what you are going to use that day. That is what makes sense to me. I'm still learning...

just a question surplus ammo wont kill a deer you need new ammo for that please explain why do so many people think the more it cost the better it is in every day use i can see 500 yards out better ammo but for hunting and self defence why
@VanPrepper
@VanPrepper 10 жыл бұрын
Surplus ammo is cheap. That is the bottom line for me. Most people who buy surplus ammo do it because of the cost. Why go to the range (which is 99.9% of most people's shooting) and shoot anything other than the cheapest ammo you can find. I shoot 300-1,000 rounds normally when I hit the range so I buy cheap ammo to lessen the cost. How many rounds does someone shoot a year hunting? How many rounds does a person shoot in self defense per year (usually 0 unless you are very unlucky)? People use most of their rounds at ranges or plinking. I hope that helps.
@jasonb4350
@jasonb4350 10 жыл бұрын
what i am saying there are guys who think surpluss is no good for hunting most shoots are taken from 150 yards and closer i can see using better ammo for much longer shoots but most game is taken from about 100 yards or less and these guys think because it cost less it doesnt have the stopping power on that point i disagree
@VanPrepper

Oh I gotcha. I think because the surplus rounds are FMJ which don't expand on impact and go right through whatever you are hunting leaving more chance you would have to at least track your kill for a while.

my biggest thing is people stockpiling the good stuff i stock both more of the cheaper stuff like winchester bulk federal bulk and some steal case stuff but if shit were to hit the fan anything will work in close quarters i dont see the need to buy a box of 223 that cost 20$ because it says match when i can buy a box for 10$ and its brass and 6$ for steal case

Makes me laugh when people talk about all that ammo for one fire fight . If we would have a long term crisis you could have a fire fight once or twice a week if you Do survive them ammo will go quick especially if you also trade it for supplies .

Average spec ops ammo spent for each engagement was 30 to 300 rnds. That said, 3000 rounds is only 10 to 16 engagements! Now he has to figure ammo for trade

Whats the unconstitutional law in NY regarding ammo now? You can no longer order online and have it shipped to your home and is there a limit on how much you can buy at one time?
@oscardelta1257
@oscardelta1257 9 жыл бұрын
***** Sorry to hear that, sucks having to ship it to an FFL, I'm guessing the FFL probably charges something for having to take the ammo delivery, hopefully the info isn't recorded by them otherwise the state will know the type, how much and who bought ammo. Feel sorry for those that can't leave

***** I'm originally from upstate NY, however, I left over 25 years ago (when daddy Cuomo was governor) and moved to FL. The gun laws sucked back then but they are a lot worse now. Between high (property) taxation, state taxes (that are robbed from your paycheck), sales tax and draconian gun laws I really don't see how anyone but liberals can stand to live there. Not only is NY making the cost of ammo more expensive for NY'ers but they are cleaning up on taxes in regard to ammo because those FFL's are having to pay tax on that income, not only that but isn't NY one of the few states that charge sales tax on Internet sales regardless of what state the sale comes from? As far as I know there are no Internet ammo companies that will even ship to NY, at least from what I've seen on ammo sites.
@oscardelta1257
@oscardelta1257 9 жыл бұрын
***** I thought I read he died on New Years Day? Anyway, NY'ers choices of ammo suppliers are limited as it appears only some vendors are willing to ship to NY State, they are basically stuck with buying ammo from an FFL, unless of course they buy it in another state and drive back with it, or have a relative/friend in another near by state order it online then they could go pick it up and bring it back. Every single firearm and mag I own would be illegal to own in NY and I own a lot firearms. In FL we have zero restrictions, I couldn't imagine living there anymore, no offense. I'm used to having freedom.

***** You have a CCW in NY? You couldn't even get a permit to buy a handgun when I lived there, you had to go in front of a judge and explain why you wanted to buy a handgun and unless you were one of the privileged or knew someone the judge would always deny the permit.
@oscardelta1257
@oscardelta1257 9 жыл бұрын
***** Things have changed then because it was almost impossible to even buy a handgun in NY back in the 70's early 80's. Everyone I knew was denied and they were squeaky clean so I never bothered wasting my time with trying. Its a stark contrast here in FL, the FFL runs the background check and three days later you pick it up, no permission required. You can carry it in your vehicle without a permit. To get your CCW it requires one 8 hour class. The total fee to get your CCW is $191 that includes the class and any applicable fees, once you take the class you get your CCW mailed to you in about 45-60 days. Also, if you have served in the armed forces and have an honorable discharge you're not required to take the CCW class, you can just fill out the paperwork, have your picture taken and send your finger prints into the the Sheriff's Dept and the state along with the $70 check or money order and wait for your CCW to arrive in the mail. The good thing about that is it saves you the $65 for the CCW class and also cuts the wait time down. Florida made it illegal for anyone to access the CCW database many many years ago. Unless you're in law enforcement its illegal for anyone including state employees to access the database, they would be arrested and brought up on criminal charges. FL doesn't play around when it comes to that DB.

just way too much ammunition, I don't know if you were ever in the military.... but I was and around 300rds was more than enough for an intense fire fight from non machine gun types.... you will never be able to carry all that plus your fire arm. That's the only problem I have, it's an investment though...

Jason Gurganus I agree with this completely. If a SHTF situation really happens, you're not going to be carrying 800 rounds of 7.62, you're going to be carrying food and water. If you don't, you're going to die a whole lot faster. Honestly, carrying more than a hundred rounds would be ridiculous, if you're going to be hoofing it for any long period of time. Again, food is gonna be the priority.

300rds seriously? Your right it is you opinion but not a good one at that. I don't think many people have ever said"i wish I had less ammo"
@linkdude64
@linkdude64 9 жыл бұрын
barry wirth "I don't think many people have ever said"i wish I had less ammo"" I think his point is that there is a point where all things have diminishing benefits, for example, hamburgers are good - I could eat 3 of them a day, but could I eat 25 of them? Nope, so the rest are going to go to waste. He is preparing for SHTF with TONS of ammo, but where is his water, food, antibiotics, fire starters, etc.? All of that ammo would be used if he was arming a small army and fighting a war of attrition for months on end, and that just isn't realistic if you're staying inside a civilian house. One person throws a molotov cocktail at your place from a distance, then the only things that are valuable to you are what you can carry on your back - and no way in heck is he gonna carry 10,000,000 rounds of ammunition with him. The rest is going to blow up, and that money would've been better spent on something else.
