This can be explained by the color combinations alone! UB Ashiok must be one of the lowly servants of all of the Gods in Amonkhet ( Black and/or Blue), who are fighting among themselves over possessing the planeswalker power. I think it's safe to assume the five Gods now are each distributed with a different color. Anshiok always knew he/she was special though the planeswalker spark has not yet been ignited. Using his/her survival instincts and intelligence, Ashiok just worked as a double spy under both the Black and the Blue Gods, and took his/her time waiting for a chance. Until one day Bolas found and recruited Ashiok to scheme something terrible against Amonkhet. And Ashiok seized the moment, betrayed both of the Gods he/she was serving, and all of Egypt, I mean Amonkhet, by murdering/imprisoning/deactivating the Gods, becoming a planeswalker and started planeswalking! This is such an inspirational story! Mortals achieve what the Gods can't achieve and eventually overpower them! Thank you! and Please stop trying to talk dramatically

Nicol bolas had already formed one, back in the past with Alara. Sarkhan Vol, Rakka Mar, Tezzeret, were among those who pledged to aid Nicol Bolas. Some like Rakka Mar were killed in battle, others like Sarkhan Vol left him after Alara. Also worth noting that Nicol Bolas helped set up Liliana with her 4 demon overlords, acting as a middleman, for an undisclosed reward iirc. Tezzeret is the only main planeswalker I can think of that is in the storylines that is still maybe working with Nicol Bolas intentionally. He was on Mirroden/New Phyrexia on Bolas' orders. So, it's entirely possible that Bolas has been recruiting more servants since his Alara story.

Emil Romin I doubt. Nicol Bolas works by tempting people with promises of power and whatnot. Dovin Baan doesn't seem like Bolas would have anything he'd want, and Nicol Bolas doesn't seem like he'd want anything Dovin Baan would offer. Bolas seems to look more for people that have a grudge against a group, and uses that as his in. So I can see someone like Tibalt, Vraska, and maybe Ral Zarek as people he could manipulate into being a servant to him. And maybe Garruk, depending how far gone he is mentally, and how badly he wants to be the Apex Predator. Assuming we're only going off the planeswalkers already revealed. Essentially, anyone with a drive towards criminality that isn't dead might consider joining Bolas. That's what my money would be on.

Lost77 I don´t think Bolas is that picky with his pawns as long as they serve their purpose. Promising power doesn´t mean he will deliver on that promise and it could always be power that he himself doesn´t care for himself. Dovin is already working with Tezzeret, a known agent of Bolas. I don´t think it´s too far of a stretch that Dovin could work for Bolas in the future.

Dovin Baan working with Tezzeret is more a testament to how corrupt the government is on Kaladesh than it is a testament to Dovin Baan aligning his ideals with anything. The way I see it, Dovin's talents are to identify flaws in machinery. He's not aggressive, and he's not particularly ambitious, he's just interested in Quality Control. He seems more like the kind of guy that would rather oppose Bolas on moral grounds than work with him.

The only thing really similar is that the horns are located on the top of the head. You're really reaching for that one, IMO. However, the general shape of Ashiok's head does resemble some egyptian god hieroglyphics.

I believe your view of worthy might be incorrect I don't think nico bolas is trying to build a army I think this trial is a way to find plans walkers so he can take there spark. nico bolas wants to regain his power he lost from the mending

This was a good video and I agree with the theory, but I noticed a few things during it. First of all, Ashiok's horns somewhat resemble Bolas' horns, which could show how his power has taken it's toll on Ashiok. Also, Ashiok shares colors with Tezzeret, who is an agent of Bolas, and Ashiok was hunting for Dack Fayden, an artificer, like Tezzeret.

I had a theory on the five gods but just did some browsing research and found it very unlikely. My theory was based on a group of five previously containing Nicol Bolas. The five elder dragons Nicol Bolas, Chromium, Arcades Sabboth, Palladius-Mors, and Vaevictus Asmaudi. Sadly my research spoke of the deaths of them as well as possible planeswalker sparks igniting through the elder Dragon planeswalker wars. So my theory is dead again, but so was Ugin... think of one Dragon survived the other four are a part of post Fate Reforged time line or were they dead beforehand? PLEASE cover the lore on this subject and see if you can dig up anything I'd love to see the Elders return as brothers and be the gods of this plane.

Wouldn't there be a legal problem in bringing Ashiok back while they are still part of the IDW comics? I mean, that's the reason why we don't see Dack Fayden in main sets. I don't know if IDW intends to finish that story arc or just gave up on Magic. They did bring it back when Theros was released, so they could do it again in Amonkhet, wrapping up Ashiok's plans in Theros and explaining why they are here now, if your theory is correct.

Emil Romin Well we don't exactly know what Bolas has been up to until now. Only a few guesses on involvement with Innistrad. Otherwise he's basically been ignored since 2013 Core Set. I see Ajani appearing in Amonkhet, but not getting a new card. I'm also wondering if it'll be Ajani's final set. Similar to Venser. WotC has a history with killing off white/green characters and giving redemptions and second chances to black/red characters.

There are theories that Bolas was involved in Innistrad? I didn´t know about those. I´ve heard about how he might be behind things on Kalladesh but nothing else. Just because Wizards has killed w/g characters in the past doesn´t mean they will do it with Ajani. And too be honest I can´t think of a g/w character that died in modern history.

Emil Romin Yeah, that Bolas corrupted Avacyn and the angels. The symbol of Bolas' horns is hidden in various artwork involving the angels. I pointed it out a while back on one of Seiban's videos about Shadows of Innistrad, where I spotted Bolas' horns. I haven't checked the Kaladesh art yet.
