As I've said to one of our Lovely Moderators Marika , I've been listening to them since 1995 , and imho , criminally underrated . I think I'll have to request a live tune so you can see that they sound just as good Live Eric . Thanks for the request , and thanks for another fantastic breakdown .

Amorphis is one of the bedrocks of Finnish heavier metal and thus I've seen them several times both on their own and on various festivals. They never let you down. Absolutely professional entertainers and I mean it in the best possible way. And there's something in their sound and compositions that bring that bedrock into mind as well. There's certain sturdiness and massiveness in their expression without ever being corny.

That is so true. Their live performance is very, how to say, demanding in a way, but yet so enjoyable. Great heavy rock or metal, well played and all the members of the band are so good. It is pleasure to see and hear them.

I think I get what you mean by an appropriate/proportional amount of growling adding an element of fear to a song. I get that feeling with Wintersun. Jari's different kinds of growls to me add elements of anger, fear, frustration etc. and are then balanced with his clean vocals, or instrumentals of the song. But Tomi Joutsen's growls feel somehow very soothing to me. Even in more agressive songs of Amorphis, Tomi's growls feel like a warm and fuzzy hug, not scary at all. Hard to explain but I love how his low growls have a physically soothing effect on me. It feels in the chest and fills me with happiness. Amazing experience listening to that live, I have to say ❤.

Always good to hear Amorphis. My gateway song and is a massive earwig is The Bee from that album. Another nordic folk tale to metal. I'm sure someone has put it in the Discord by now 🙂

Love Amorphis, been listening to them since the 90's and they progressed throughout the years but always kept the sound we love. Watch them live a few times and it was amazing, the whole concert ground felt like a space rocket just got launched with Tomi's growls. This band always kept it tasteful and agree with the right amount of layers since the 90's. Tomi Joutsen (Singer) does have the best growls in my opinion and great clean vocals, watching him live switching between both, that must be exhausting. *Jens Bogren* who produced a few of Amorphis albums and fan of their music wanted to keep their iconic signature sound with new layers, he did a great job. I have to also give credits to the founders of Amorphis *Jan Rechberger* (Drummer) *Tomi Koivusaari* (Rythem guitars/original vocalist with great growls as well and *Esa Holopainen* (Lead guitars/songwriter) these guys started it all on their own at a young age and the songs/albums are so well made, there isn't an album that I disklike, love all of them. If you hear some of their older stuff till now, the discography is just amazing. Also, the original member from 1990 joined back *Olli-Pekka Laine* (Bassist) and we can't forget *Santeri Kallio* (keyboards) who joined in 1998. Tomi - singer joined in 2005, there was a previous singer *Pasi Koskinen* 1995-2004 did a great job as well. The musicianship and poetry, this band is Metal with class. Thank you for the reaction, and look forward to more Amorphis. By the way, you have a nice voice as well. 🤘😎

There are so many beautiful Amorphis songs. And Kainulainen always writes great lyrics.

When it comes to Amorphis, one of my favourite bands, I would recommend an older (2011) underestimated gem "Song Of The Sage", from album The Beginning Of Times. On this very track Amorphis really demonstrates their melodic power

The guitarist for Amorphis and the keyboard player for Nightwish should start a musical project together. I wonder what they would call it 🤔 😊
