Amorphis, shades of gray, grain of sand, daughter of hate, brother and sister, message in amber, amongst stars. Those are some great ones.

I remember seeing these guys over 24 years ago in their earlier style. The music style of the band has definitly grown and changed over the years, but in my opinion, it has always been in a positive way. Saw them just a few years ago and will admit they still sound incredible live and are really nice down to earth guys. Talked with them after the show and they were very friendly. Keep up the great work.

This song still pop's up in playlists from time to time. Mostly on a rock radio stations of course, still. Silver Bride is another that get's aired. Probably some others too.

Gosh I still have chills listening this song, the song of my teenage years.

On their song 'The Smoke' the piano is also in a defining role. Everything wraps around and grows from a simple piano melody.

Yes, this still plays on the radio sometimes. Very radio friendly song 😊 House of sleep is probably even more mainstream than this one. And Tomi (the singer) was so young in the video 😃 Time flies. Great reaction, thank you again, Eric ❤

Silent Waters and Skyforger are the albums that drew me in. Sky is Mine is my track before playing football

Amorphis is brilliant and I'm thrilled to see you dipping a toe in that big ol pond! There's a band that perfectly straddles the prog-doom-black-power metal divide and always comes up with something interesting. Pop on the Skyforger album the next time you're in the gym, it's phenomenal.

Great reaction again Eric... (as usual actually). I'll be honest, I've only dabbled with Amorphis a little, but listening to this, I think I really need to go deeper into this band.

Yes, this was played a lot in radio here in Finland. But, in that time metal was the most mainstream music here 🤣

Nice to heard Eric and learn. If I remember the millennium, for me it was HIM, NylonBeat, Nightwish, CoB - not Amorphis. Trio Niskalaukaus was that time the best I know. Last week I did listened Timo again - and still lyrics point of view still beat everyone.

I dunno about it being a radio hit, I lived in Eastern Europe at the time and radio here does not play a lot of metal 😂. But this song is the title track of the first Amorphis album I ever heard back when it came out, and it was love at first listen, for the whole thing as well as for the song.

Yeah, it may not have been nro one hit in Finland either, but it was played a lot by rock radio stations, and I think that even some main stream stations might have played it occasionally. Amorphis has so vast catalog of great music, that it annoys me a little bit how they always play this in concerts, but on the other hand if more people find Amorphis through this, I don't mind. 😊

Love the guitar. The drumming is awesome as well. I had trouble understanding what he is saying, his diction.

House of sleep is their most radio friendly song I think... Someone ask Silver Bride, Death of a King or The Bee 😉 Also Nightbirds Song 🤟🏻

It took me a while to realize this, but some of the most beutiful songs Amorphis has ever created had the music written by keyboarder Santeri Kallio, and this one is no exception. Him and Esa Holopainen are songwriting geniuses, but I think that Kallio flies a bit too much under the radar. Maybe he wants it to be that way but he should get way more credit than he usually does.

Sir. It's great how you analyze the music. But also how you have found the Finnish bands. There's a cultural history of surviving in the cold climate behind all these mythologies and stories. Respecting all the living creature. Everything had a spiritual level. Nature or the land wasn't for the people to own. That was before the christianity and kingdoms taxing everything to pay their wars. Before the laws, if you took others stuff, the spirit of that stuff cursed you. No hunting luck for the robber.
