Amorphis is incredible. They've been around forever. They used to be more of a pure death metal band, but their more recent stuff has been folk metal. I love me some folk metal. Their 2009 album "Skyforger" is my favorite. But they don't have a bad album.

So glad to see you guys get into Amorphis. My absolute favorite band, my favorite vocalist Tomi Joutsen. They have a vast back catalogue with 15 albums ranging from death metal to progressive rock. My top 5 suggestions would be Sampo, Skyforger, Alone, Black Winter Day and My Kantele. Amorphis is an old Finnish band (they've been around for almost 30 years), they're actually the ones who inspired Markus Toivonen to create Ensiferum, which again lead to Wintersun.

You guys are entertaining. Fun to watch. If an old metalhead might suggest, please listen to some older Amorphis matherial also. I was in the best head banging age, when the album "Tales from the Thousand Lakes" came out 1994. It has many amazing pieces, but "Black Winter Day" is something else. Hauntingly beautiful, still heavy as hell and is still one the best metal songs that ever came from Finland.

Amorphis is one of those bands that when they release a new record, you know it is going to be awesome! They have a plethora of great songs to check out, but I'd suggest Bad Blood, Black Winter Day or My Kantele. And yeah, the vocalist Tomi Joutsen is one of a kind, I think he has the best low growling vocals in metal and his clean voice is also super good. He also sang in this incredibly beautiful project called Hallatar, I'd recommend to check out their video of "My Mistake". There is a very sad story behind this album, it is written by Juha Raivio to his wife that passed away recently. Extremely haunting and beautiful.

Let me add to the choir that says Amorphis is one of the most consistently great bands out there. You can basically pick any song, they are all great. By the way, and I don't know if anyone said that already, but the pipe that could be heard playing through parts of the song was played by none other than Chrigel Glanzmann from Eluveitie. So, time for a request: One of my most favorite songs from Amorphis' Under the Red Cloud album is White Night, a song where they collaborated with the late Aleah Stanbridge from Trees of Eternity. Their debut album "Hour of the Nightingale" was released shortly after her death and , with this knowledge in mind, is an abslolute haunting experience. You should really listen to "Gallows Bird", feat. Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost. ok, and while I'm at it, I suggest you listen to swedish doom band Sorcerer and the song Sirens from their new album The Crowning of the Fire king

Thanks for checking Amorphis. I would suggest you to check out their 1994 album Tales from the Thousand Lakes, this is one of the pioneering album of Melodeath genre. You should really check out that complete album in your own time. Their rest of catalog is excellent as well... One of the most consistent bands ever.

Their classic disc Tales from a Thousand Lakes is a must listen imo. their sound has progressed over the years this song is from their newest and is among their best . but Definately check out Dark Winter Day or Into Hiding. Doomy Folk w those insane growls.

Amorphis is one of those bands that has evolved a lot over the years. They've had 3 singers and the music from each singer's era is very different. If you want some different amorphis, I defenitely recommend "Alone". Also, you did Stam1na once, and it would be great to see more of that! Valtiaan Uudet Vaateet and Pala Palalta might work for you guys.

Saying Tomi Joutsen to be like Dave Crohl is a big insault 😂 Tomi is a great singer and has maybe the best growls of Finnish singers. One of pioneers of Finnish Death Metal or metal in general. This one is pretty normal Amorphis song. I like their older stufd more. Their absolut classic song is Black Winter Day but my favorite is Drowned Maid. You should check the 2010 versions of those songs coz they are not original with Tomi but he does those so much better.

The singer is in another band who debuted their first album this year. They´re named Hallatar and play gothic doom metal. Very good but doesn´t sound like Amorphis. Juha Raivio from Swollow the Sun is also in the band. Give it a try.

Folk elements sometimes resemble each other. I am from Turkey and yeah it totally resembles Turkish or Middle Eastern folk melodies and instruments but I believe those are actually Finland's folk elements which I can't really name.
