Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals will deliver "A Vulgar Display of Pantera" worldwide on Friday, April 9th. The livestream concert will see the metal icon and his bandmates performing songs from across the Texas juggernaut's five classic major-label albums: 'Cowboys From Hell,' 'Vulgar Display of Power,' 'Far Beyond Driven,' 'The Great Southern Trendkill' and 'Reinventing the Steel.' We talked to Anselmo ahead of the event and discussed the songs that Pantera never got to play live during their groundbreaking run. Watch above and pick up your tickets here: bit.ly/3cQpmNz

I second that notion; and “Suicide Note PT 1” would have been glorious live as well! Two of my favorite songs off that album. Third being “Floods” which obviously they did play live.

10's always struck me as having something of a Nirvana influence, especially the clean tone parts at the beginning. It's got that same not-all-that-heavy-but-very-dissonant vibe.

Good call. There's also a bootleg called trendkillers from hell. It was from 1996 in Japan. The middle section of cowboys from Hell where they normally play cat scratch fever, they did the first verse and chorus for trendkill. That's the only other time I've heard them jam that.

I'll Cast A Shadow was played every night on the final two major headlining tours, rightly so, its amazing. I have live versions of SHEDDING SKIN. its rare. Japan i believe. Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks was played live a few times and has been officially released. 25 years and throes of rejection were the only FBD songs not played *entirely* live that i know of, just parts. Everything else was definitely played live. Trendkill is the album with the least amount of songs rotating through the set list. FBD had the most songs rotating through the setlist. Vulgar was basically the first 5 songs plus half of hollow. The 2nd half of their career CFH material was almost entirely omitted from the setlist because they only played CFH and would rotate between Primal Concrete Sledge or Dom/Hollow. *If* they added a 2nd CFH song. The band had about 22 songs rotating through the set. Theyd narrow it to 12-15 for shows with songs in bold never leaving the setlist. Here are the 22 songs for the die hards that are interested. *CFH* Primal Concrete Sledge Dom/Hollow Mouth For War New Level *Walk* *F Hostile* *This Love* Strength Beyond Strength *Becoming* 5 Minutes Alone I'm Broken Slaughtered Use My Third Arm War Nerve Suicide Note 2 Sandblasted Skin *Hellbound* *Goddamn Electric* Yesterday Dont Mean Shizzy *Revolution Is My Name* I'll Cast A Shadow

Thats true. I woulda waited to ask him at the end. Lol. But in honesty they did play some of the power metal songs in the early 90s.

"I'll cast a shadow" played live June 29 2001 Grand Rapids, MI. Extreme Steel Tour. I even remember when the birthday cake was brought out for Phil that night. Awesome show, only time I ever got to see Pantera. Kerry King came out for "Fucking Hostile" as well. That night still lives on in me 20 years later.

I went to the show on the 27th of June in WV that tour and they played I'll cast a shadow there as well. Anyone who saw that tour will never forget it. Pantera, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Static X, and Skrape. Fucking amazing!! Also saw Slayer in a small club in NC ten days before that. God I miss those days

I went to show in Nampa Idaho on same tour, after reinventing the steel as a matter of fact. Only time i seen Pantera as well. I would have been devastated had I never had the chance to see them
