I really enjoyed this video. You did a wonderful job! I'm really looking forward to seeing the flower. My spike is just starting to grow. In a few months I might also have a bloom to show.

Thank you, Bill. I do hope we both get wonderful spathes this year. I think the length it has taken me to bloom this has made it all the more exciting :) Thank you for subscribing too

Putting polystyrene in the bottom is an interesting trick... usually adding things like leca or gravel in the bottom is not advisable as the root tips tend to wilt if dry. But perhaps polystyrene holds just a bit moisture so that doesn't happen :)

There are a couple of reasons why I use polystyrene, not least of all that it is cheap and easy to find. The main reason though is that it makes for a much lighter pot. If you have an extra large pot with a lot of grit in it, it can be nearly impossible to lift. For this reason I've switched to perlite, instead of grit, for the potting mix.

Michael Beckert. Loved videos ,my vodoo lily will flower this year.after many growth years. I plant my bulbs directly in my garden.great soil lots of compost. In connecticut.They grow vigorously all summer, lift bulbs after frost, cleanup bulbs. And dezplay on dinning room table.bulbs with flower buds flower without potting. This makes this amazing even more interesting. LOL. Give it a try

Great video. Im growing these but I've got six shoots coming from the bulb or corps what ever you want to call it. Should i cut the shoots or just leave them?
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't cut off new shoots. If they are old growths that are winding down and browning then you could cut them now but best to let them run their course.

Hi there. I grow a number of stinky aroids but only the one amorphopallus. I used to have A. bulbifer and A. napalensis but, sadly, they are no more.
