If you’ve ever wanted to grow this amazing botanical wonder, Damon will explain how best to grow an Amorphophallus titanum corpse flower. (You’ll also get a cameo from Toby, our greenhouse cat and learn all about “The Flumping” in this video) For more information or to order plants check out our website www.californiacarnivores.com

Just planted my first Corm ever. The bulbs were given by an award winning plant. She gives a few out every year to put a little good energy out there. My Corms were small. I have two,, a little bigger than a silver dollar, but theyre definitely alive because there is a green dot sticking out like a nipple. Any suggestions or advise on this, my very first corpse plant, would be greatly appreciated . Thanks✌ post script, I live in Florida, and will be growing them indoors until they're big enough to not have to worry about weather, or pests like squirrels .

Damon likes to use a high quality potting soil that he added some chunk to; 30% lava or other chunkiness. Keep the pot smaller as a very large pot it more likely to rot so it’s best to put it into something that leaves 2-3” around the corm and then repot and upsize every 2-3 years. Fertilizer them with osmocote when they’re actively growing!

@@California_Carnivores Thanks. If you get around to it, could you tell me how long after I plant the corm, will I see growth??
@California_Carnivores
@California_Carnivores 2 жыл бұрын
@@youtubernaz1scensoredbythe201 it should grow the first year and it depends a little on your conditions when you’ll see that growth. Our big Amorphophallus just flumped over in the hot house so the cycle begins anew

I noticed you said that you let the corm dry out after the plant goes dormant but I keep hearing others say these type of amorphophallus need to stay moist no matter what and do not like to dry out even during dormancy because they come from a very rainy and wet environment in the wild. Yours seem to be doing well regardless, so I’m guessing it’s okay to let them dry out even with all the conflicting advice for care at dormancy?
@California_Carnivores
@California_Carnivores 2 жыл бұрын
We prefer to let them dry out between watering in cultivation because they can rot. We don’t let them get bone dry but we want to reduce the chance of that rot.

it’s still very green and only has been actively growing for about 5 months so i don’t believe it’s “flumping”

It it’s softening as well, it’s probably done growing for the season. But if not it may just be too much or too little water.
