Great review! I just ordered a decant. Can't wait to try it. I recently got Imitation Man. Reminded me of my grandparents house in Long Island, NY in the 80's. Seemed like women's perfume fro that time. I like it for nostalgic reasons but I returned my full bottle as I blind bought it. I may get a decant again to revisit it down the road. Currently own a bottle of Reflection Man (love it) and decants of Journey, Memoir and Jubilation. Need to give those some more wear, but I already can tell I like Journey and Memoir. I'll be back to tell you my thoughts on Portrayal.

Excellent review!!! I like Amouage Portrayal for Man!!! It is not as aggressive or overpowering as some of the other fragrances from this house, which makes it more wearable!!! My favorite fragrances from Amouage is Reflection, Beloved, Dia, and Honour!!! I understand that Christopher Chong has stepped down as Creative Director of Amouage!!! I certainly hope that the new direction in which Amouage ventures will be as fruitful and successful as the one that preceded it!!! So far, Amouage is my favorite niche house!!! ☮️🖖🏽

What a GORGEOUS bottle, but ive come to expect nothing less from the house. I have a few favorites from Amouage, but I have to say that I adore Bracken Woman. That juicy berry note is quite lovely. Thanks for giving us your thoughts on this one!

Coming to this video late. Just saw Portrayal reviewed by another favorite reviewer (I've got four) and it fascinated me. I've got samples of Jubliation XVV and Beach Hut Man. Both enchanting, even captivating in their own ways, yet both a bit too...perfumey to be "me." I heard the other fellow review Portrayal and convincingly convey, if perhaps not meaning to, that this was a peculiarly non-Amouage-ish Amouage. And I thought, "Hmm...." Plus...the whole vetiver thing (I"m mad about vetiver). Again, "Hmm...." Then I read some reviews on Fragrantica and, whaddya know, the consensus is that Portrayal goes to a place you don't expect of Amouage DNA. I'm very intrigued.

Sounds like it could be a Narciso Rodriguez for Him, but with an Amouage spin. This house doesn't disappoint. I have Jubilation, Reflection, and Lyric and I wouldn't mind if Portrayal is the next one in my Amouage collection.

Hi Sebastian. I just received a complimentary 2ml vial of Potrayal man. It was love at first sniff. I feel this is very gender neutral. My husband says I smell great with this perfume. Hope to own a full bottle in future.

I think I’m a great great fan of Christopher Chong. The truth is that I didn’t even know that Mr.Chong is the person behind my collection of Amouage fragrances I have tons of fragrances in my wardrobe but Amouage is undoubtedly the best of best! From Chong’s creativity I LOVE these that I own: Jubilation - 2008 Lyric - 2008 Epic - 2009 Interlude - 2012 Reflection- 2007 I started my journey with Amouage by a blind buy of Interlude followed by Lyric which incidentally got attracted watching Sebastian’s review and moved on getting Epic. If you carefully look at these three they are my Red Green Blue (RGB) of fragrances(in color spectrum they are everything) While I have so many great things to talk about Chong’s creations the only thing my nose didn’t accept is: Figment - 2017 - Unfortunately, I have returned figment The list of my acquaintances didn’t go without stating Amouage Gold and Dia in my wardrobe too have a special place in my scent journey. After watching this Portrayal review, once again I’m drooling to get my hands on it! Having a fan of the house of Amouage, I’m looking forward to checking Portrayal - 2019 and also possibly Overture - 2019 as well

Wear Amouage for personal pleasure, very few of them are work friendly. Eccentric and exotic are words that come to mind. You will smell like The Gods though.

I have never tried Portrayal Man, and I do not have a favorite masculine violet leaves scent. I would love to win this, though. I am a fan of Amouage! I've tried Interlude Man and I plan to buy that soon. I love it. This is going to sound offensive to potentially a lot of people but Interlude Man makes me think of a burning church. Anyway, this sounds super interesting and hopefully I can try it out sometime if I don't win it.

@@ThePerfumeGuy Although, to be honest, I do get some animalic skankiness as there was musk or civet. Its like a cross between Fahrenheit with some Kouros. It is like a nod to 80s powerhouse fragrances. Like a medley of those in a way. I have never tried a Cade fragrance to tell if that is the animalic note or not.

I’m broken-hearted Seb tbh after hearing about the departure of Christopher Chong as Creative Director, buuuuuut, life does indeed go on.... I absolutely LOVE everything Amouage, but my Top 3 undoubtedly are: Reflection, Jubilation XXV & Lyric Man. Violet Leaf is a note I absolutely adore in a fragrance and I hope I’m blessed to have this “fat, succulent experience as you you put it with the Violet leaves- backed-up by a touch of Vetiver, Cade and that metallic, woody-green, watery experience”! Ok ok Seb, you’ve got me, “I’m IN”🥰🤩😂 I’m trying to think of a violet dominant fragrance that I Love now and Tom Ford Black Violet comes to mind.... Good Luck to all the participants!👏🏼🙏👋👋
