Thanks for throwing in feminine-leaning fragrance! I find that the fragrance community is largely male-dominated so its hard to get good reviews on feminine fragrances. Portrayal woman sounds like something I'd love to try.

I've been wearing the Man version for a couple of weeks from a decant and it is certainly different from the other offerings from this house. The cade/juniper gives it an interesting character. Great office fragrance.

My favorite fragrance house!!! Their sample sets on the website (under gifts) are very generous with a 12ml vial and come in a beautiful box! I should have watched a few KZbin videos because I only bought the por femme and library opus sample sets. Seems a pretty universal opinion that anyone can wear either sex’s scent, when I return with more purchases, going to get the por home set too!

As much as i like Amouage , latest fragrances they released for guys i do not like , and some i even find above average. Bracken Man , Beach Hut Man , Imitation Man , Sunshine Man , Figment Man all i'm not a fan of , and to me all ot those are *NOWHERE* near as good as classics like Jubilation XXV , Interlude Man , Lyric Man i all own ... Through i really like some of women's offerings - bought Lilac Love - i see it on your shelves , and Blossom Love. I will check Portrayal man , but to be honest my expectations are not very high. SOTD is Carpe Cafe by Gallagher Fragrances

Interesting you don’t seem to think the violet dominates in the man version and other reviews comment on that a lot. Violet and Cade sounds very interesting to me, looking forward to smelling this one. I am thinking to myself it might smell a bit like Byredo Baudelaire just going off the notes and I really like that one.

what would you recommend if I were to buy my first amouage? I’m a mommy of two, 33 years old and I have been collecting niche perfumes. I love and I have diptyque eau duelle edp, volutes edp; JHAG vanilla vibes; initio atomic rose; memo paris lalibela, granada, jannat; shay&blue atropa belladona, tallulahs camellia, amber rose, olfactory nyc “blake” customized with oud, rose, raspberry & pear and lastly byredo velvet haze.

Seems like so many brands are following the simplistic trend nowadays - releasing a group or collection of fragrances dedicated to 3-5 notes a piece. Undoubtedly saving on ingredients, but are they looking to target the collector demographic, or just offer the average consumer a bind? I certainly hope it doesn't jeopardize the future availability of prive or exclusif lines...

Great reviews. Definitely will need to find out more on Portrayal Man. Reflection Man is one of my overall favorites, loved it from the first. I’ve found with some other Amouage frags, I appreciate them more, months after purchasing them. Pretty happy with the Amouage I have, no regrets there. :)

I have a decant of Portrayal woman. It smells nothing like its Fragrantica notes. It is not woody at all. You can't smell the jasmine at all. No smokiness. It is very well blended so particular notes don't come out, but you can tell there's a lot of generic floral+ tobacco leaf with elemi. It is a perfume for a 50 year old woman.

I like beautiful fragrances but I don"t ear them as signature scents. that is the only way i would spend over 200.00 for a fragrance. I get bored of them after a few months. I wish perfume creators would stop making fragrances "for a women" or "for a man". It should be a great fragrance that is unisex in nature because some women do prefer the smell of bass scents and accords and aren't as into the whole idea that florals are just for women, and I am sure it goes both ways... That said - I love the packaging and design for these fragrances and I have no doubt there is a lot of talent there.

I need categories that describe where on the feminine or masculine spectrum the fragrance sits, or it will be impossible for me to blind-buy them to match my mood or outfit. To those whom such information is redundant should simply ignore it. Today for example I'm going to pick from my collection 20 ultra feminine fragrances, all of them different and awesome, but the category "feminine" will be the common denominator. Tomorrow I may choose ultra masculine, as per my specific craving. It's like a music playlist. Removing categories will not reduce our need of them, but it will create difficulty fulfilling it. We can group songs and smells and colors and flavors them as we please. Let's celebrate the freedom we still have in doing this with fragrances! I'll miss it should some fad cripples us our diverse freedoms to enjoy distinguishing smells and colors in variety of relevant categories into a brown sea of "anything goes" category ... I wish perfume creators refuse to follow marketing trends and stay loyal to the art principles.
