Perfect, now I can help myself getting on my truck bed without hurting any part of my body... thanks again

It works great, makes getting in the bed a breeze. I just wish it tucked away a little further like their side steps do, but it's so functional that it's worth the compromise of being able to see it when it's up.

Will do, the Bullitt is still hibernating at the moment this winter just won't go away...

Do you need to remove the rear bumper in order to mount the arm back into those 2 bolts? My concern is that there's not enough clearance for you to tighten the bolts with your torque wrench. The video didn't show the cranking of your wrench so made me think there's not much room to do that.

+Ed Gong Those bolts were just hard to see on camera, it is a tight spot, but no need to remove the rear bumper.

+Auto DIY Thanks. I was concerned not enough clearance to tighten those bolts once you put that arm against the holes of the bolts. I ordered it and let you know how it goes when I get them.

Ed Gong Good luck with your install, I have really enjoyed this product using it even more than I expected to.

+Auto DIY Hi, I have a torque wrench that does 40ft-lbs - 200ft-lbs. On those 2 bolts you use 33ft-lb, can I do 40lbs? Is there a concern?
@AutoDIY9 жыл бұрын
Ed Gong That's 21% too tight, which is kind of significant, but probably not a huge problem for this particular set of bolts. But you can grab a torque wrench for about 10 bucks that will cover the gap left by your current wrench.

What happends when the ice builds up around there?
@AutoDIY10 жыл бұрын
I have never had ice build up enough or be solid enough to prevent this step from working. The leverage of the hinge has easily broken itself free in winter even with a build up of hard slush. This is true for the powered side steps too, and the nice thing about those is the step surface is always clear in the winter because when the step is up it is protected from the slush kicked up by the front tire.

Auto DIY I would image that it did cake it down to the point of step not coming down or fully retracting. What about the actual mechanism of the step. Is there any pins there that would rust rather quick?
@AutoDIY10 жыл бұрын
arnan540 No it wont rust, and I can confirm that mine works great and shows no signs of corrosion. I am not trying to sell this to you, seriously there is nothing in it for me. This is a clip from the Amp Research site about this product's construction that should ease your mind about snow and rust.: "The AMP Research BedStep® is designed to perform flawlessly in snow, ice, dust, mud and dirt. This lightweight, yet rock-solid bumper step assist employs a rugged die-cast aluminum alloy linkage assembly that is crafted in the USA, and black-anodized and Teflon® powder-coated for maximum corrosion protection. Precision, stainless-steel hinge points and press-fit bushings ensure trouble-free action and reliable, maintenance-free operation for decades. Die-cast-aluminum alloy linkage components and precision-machined pivot points give BedStep® rock-solid stability, and Teflon powder-coating ensures years of trouble-free, corrosion-proof operation. The ridged, non-slip step is molded of strong glass-reinforced resin, for safe footing even in mud, snow or ice."
