Great video- cant argue when you see the depth of this analysis. I've always had a soft spot for hifonics since the 90's-even though they haven't been accurately rated in years. But I've had quite a few of their amps and never had an issue, and always put out the power I needed. Great vid
@jimcoleman529 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed the video, and I appreciate your efforts in producing it. Some things that I noticed you didn't compare between the output FETs is Rds(on) and the thermal de-rating factor. If one device has a lower on resistance than the other, it will produce less heat. Also, due to de-rating factors, one device could have a better 25º current rating, but once derated for the real operating temperature, handle less current. Not trying to say any of the devices compared here are better or worse, just something you might want to consider next time. Thanks again for your work!

Great video man! Been waiting on someone to a comparison on those amps! It's all about bang for the buck I don't care what people say or think I've been in the game since 89 when I bought my first rf punch 150 which costed way to much back then! But around 5 yrs ago I bought a a HF BRX ran it .5 ohms daily beat the piss out of it for 3 yrs sold it to my cousin who runs it at 1 ohm daily to buy my RF T1500BDCP which is a beast run it 1 ohm but I have ran it .5 and has put down any amp that is rated 2000 or less with ease! And got brand new with warranty for 430$ which was cheaper than my first RF P150!
@michaelbloom53429 жыл бұрын
I see all these people saying, "I run Model X amp into a dead short all day!". My question to you: WHY?!?! It makes no sense! When driving low impedance loads, the amp makes MASSIVE heat which leads to much lowered life, the THD goes through the roof, the efficiency goes way down, and the damping factor goes into the dirt. Why the hell would you want to do that? Low impedance loads also requires you to spend huge sums of money on big alternators, extra batteries, and the huge gauge wiring that all of that entails. Couple that with the incredibly crappy gas mileage that you're going to get carrying around 300 extra pounds of battery all the time, and you're losing even *more* money. If you run your amps at high impedance, 4 or even 8 ohms, you gain so, SO much. The amp lives long lives, the THD goes way down for a more enjoyable listening experience, and you don't have to waste a wheelbarrow load of cash on huge batteries and wiring.
@droppinlowlows72347 жыл бұрын
Michael Bloom the reason why is because these amps will not make power worth a damn at 4 or even 8 ohm they are ment to be ran at low impedances ... I personally run 6 dual 4 ohm 15" subwoofers in series/parallel for a final impedance 1.33 ohms to my amplifier Wich does 2000rms but in reality it's not BC it's running at 1.33 it's only doing about 1520rms and trust me you can feel a difference. I will eventually run an amp to each so I can run cleaner power to my subs at a higher impedance. but I have a budget so if one can do the job of six ...well there's your answer.

Most amps don't do that well at 2 ohms but that is why I run kicker and fosgate....all nums are done at 2 ohms....Got a 2500 watt kicker amp....Then able to do that 2500 at 2 ohms and 5/8 of that 2500 you can still do at 4 ohms. lol.... and people bang on kicker....smh. I see the LCD led guys comment. I am a mechanic by trade and have seen this trend with engines. The same 2.4 4cyl that was Toyotas worst 4cyl ever was made by another engine maker and proof is that the same 2.4 motor is now powering most gm 4 cyl vehicles and has been for about ten years. The same trend was proven to me doing research of led grow lights. Our economy has lead to and contributed to the demise of priority brands and manufacture differences. If humans keep up wanting what others have our individuality and creativity won't exist. No one does research on what they buy perfect example is the same led light on Amazon sells for more than a thousand dollars. That exact light with a different branding is less than 300 on another site. Components are exact just described differently to the uneducated consumer. Bottom line is everything you buy should be looked into deeply before shelling out

For the HiFonics amp, if my deck put out an 8 volt rca signal to the amp, would that increase the amps output watts? 8 volts seems louder and cleaner than 2 or 4 volts. rtkota5point9 i was surprised that the sq had cheaper caps then the hifo. I'm probably goin with a zed or mmats after further consideration. you should do some vids on them.

I just had a MMATS 2000.2 in here too. Didn't get around to a video
@knox43410 жыл бұрын
rtkota5point9 was it any good? and what do you mean in there? do you repair electronics or somethin? oh well, judging by all the equipment you have layin around in your vids, I'm assuming you do.

Yes I do repair amplifiers and the occasional TV.

What power supply are you using and what does it load test @14.4v?

I have the brz1200.4 and wanted the 2400 to match. I am shocked to see that it's the same as the aq. Puts more faith in hifonics, or is it less faith in aq? Lol either way I think I'm gonna get the brz to hold me over till I can afford an American bass.

Isn't this the same board as the exile 2400 monoblock from like mid 2000s?

U should do reviews on the skar rp 2500 and the Orion xtr 2500... it’s actually pretty interesting to learn which internal components are quality and which aren’t

Look at the heat sink fins of Sounqubed @2:20 vs the Hifonics heat sink @5:14. Clearly that the sounqubed has the better cooling system.
@wyattconnolly44279 жыл бұрын
+Tang Ina the side fins on the HF are HUGE, the SQ has just as much "flat" surface area as well.. you obviously do not understand thermal dynamics? look inside at the way the mosfets interact with the HS on the HF vs the SQ.. also the HF has perimeter venting in the endcaps and the SQ does not..... has nothing to do with being a HF or SQ fan, it is just simple facts... I love both ... you on the other hand are an obvious "brand" nutt-hugger for SQ so you will meaninlessly argue anything you "think" you can... the dyno doesn't lie and the HF uses much higher grade components inside so even if the HS was not as good, the components can handle it better than the SQ can...
@MechaTronic1619 жыл бұрын
+Wyatt Connolly Try to compare the area of Heat sink between these two @2:20. you will notice that the Soundqubed has more area of Heat Sink fins including the top, while the top of Hifonics is completely flat,.. I bet the Soundqubed weights more than the Hifonics in my opinion.
@wyattconnolly44279 жыл бұрын
+Tang Ina 1.3 pounds shipping weight difference but actual amp difference is less than 1 pound... I had both for years dude, you are trying to spew information with 0 facts... the HF uses a thinner top plate but more than double the Heatsink fin area on the side ( and a SHIT LOAD more fins...) and the HF uses plastic mounting at the endcaps not metal like the SQ does, the actual Heat Sink on the HF is over 6 ounces heavier... so yes the SQ weighs a tad more... however the HS on the HF is heavier and thicker where it NEEDS it... it is a totally new way of doing convection heat transfer which is also WHY it has perimeter venting in the endcaps!
@MechaTronic1619 жыл бұрын
+Wyatt Connolly On the other comment section, you said you're an engineer.. so, if you are an Electronic Engineer, why can't you make your own Amplifier instead of buying a pre built one?
@wyattconnolly44279 жыл бұрын
+Tang Ina no point in it for 1 and 2 it is far from what i specialize in and 3 it is far cheaper to buy a solidly engineered product than to try and reinvent the wheel... I have made many smaller T style amplifiers for projects. I work on far more complex things than an amplifier... and with production costs so low coming out of China and Korea there is no financial gain from it other than for small projects...

I got 2 15" Soundqubed hds3's subwoofers with a hifonics Brutus 2400.1 amp and man these things hit really nice with this amp. so glad I saved some money and chose the hifonics, and don't get me wrong, I did want the Soundqubed just because it was Soundqubed but for the same power and a little better and save some money, I'm good with my hifonics and looks awesome at night lit up, you forgot the sweet Led lights....ja
