Back in the day, the Fiat 131 was a great car to drive, and it was stylish too. I'd love to drive one again - especially an Abarth!

Yes I have been trying to buy one for many years now. In the US they are very, very rare. I almost bought an Abarth tribute car in june but they are just so fiberglass that I would fear taking the Family out in it.

If you want to have more rear droop on the right side, you could use offset ball cups to clear the 4WD outdrive casing without affecting the geometry at all.

Oh boy those came out in 2007. They are amazing little 1/6 scale Tamiya's that you can even take apart. I have not seen on for sale in probably 15 years lol! Man I should do a video on those!

Think you like the Fiat 131 much…😊 I totally get it, love them big time as well, every body style. I’ve always known it as the Brava, and I love the name, but keeping in line with the numerical nomenclature of Fiat vehicles of the time, 131 is totally appropriate! As for 1/10 scale RC vehicles, I’ve always found it mind boggling and even annoying how manufacturers are all over the place with sizes and unfortunately Tamiya hasn’t been spared from such issue! There’s no way a 350Z would run the same wheelbase and chassis as an R34 Skyline, or an EG Civic hatch the same as an IS300, but for some reason the makers either think we won’t notice, don’t care or desperate for whatever they put out there! Oh well, the hobbyist in me try to go for true to scale vehicles, but I must say, that is a sweet little 131 from Tamiya!

Ah yes I think the Brava name started in the US in 79 when the Strada was introduced (Ritmo and numerically the 138). Yeah it is so annoying when you have a 1/10 Axial Ford Bronco but when you calculate it, the little bastard is 1/6! I mean I get that "scale" is more based on the form factor chassis but yeah, I mean call it out.

That's a great job. Gearing is ridiculously low. The same pinion with the TL01 high speed gear set gives you a very drivable 20 mph.

That chassis looks very reminiscent of the old TL01.

The layout is similar, however where the MF-01 is unique is that the front and rear subframes are joined with a series of different length spacers, so it's easy to have multiple wheelbase options from the same chassis (from 170mm to 254mm - and including 210mm and 239mm for popular bodies) making the platform very versatile. The concept is great, however, as Alberto points out - the assembly/execution is rather convoluted.

12:05 I think I'd want less droop on the left side there, that dog bone looks like it's about to slip out. I definitely hear your complaints about the cheap plastic, bushings, and molex plug. It's not 1992 anymore.

Indeed it is...the TL01 is another of my disliked chassis'. This one seems much better but it is still very complex for something that should be rather simple.

You have an M-01 and 03, have you owned an M-05 chassis? For some reason Tamiya has been making their new non-racing chassis' more and more needlessly and weirdly complex. Like the new BT-01 with two different RWD configurations and a FWD one, but no AWD even though it looks like to do that all they would have to do is include a second diff gearset to add to one of the RWD configurations. Modern Tamiya just sometimes makes me wonder what the heck is going on out there in Japan..

I have an 02 also (yeah same as the 01) but not, not an 05. Yes I totally agree. they are going crazy with not only making them complex but compromising oh performance as a result.

Fiat body is very old was originally called 1/12 scale same VW golf on m chassy

This is not old though. it only came out a year ago. It is shown as 1/10 by Tamiya, as is the Golf. They are on a smaller chassis but when i calculated the wheelbase in the video, it is 10.4:1.
