‘t Pakhuis was a student diner during my university years more than 40 years ago. The only restaurant or eethuis(eat house) where I could afford to go out for dinner and also had good food. It was so cheap, they needed a very high turnover to make a profit, so when they saw you were about to eat your last bite, they came to the table and keep standing there until you laid down your cutlery. Then they swiftly emptied the table, asked if you wanted a dessert or gave you the bill immediately, depending on the row of people waiting to dine. For first timers it was a strange occurrence, but there was a warning sign at the entrance pointing out this special client treatment.

At 6.00 Station Haarlem is the exact same spot where there was a scene in Ocean's 12. In the film it is used as the Amsterdan station but in fact it was Haarlem station.

You are slicing the chees like you want to make a barge out of it. That is a "cardinal sin" in the Netherlands! 🙂 We even have a saying about that. "She who slices cheese into the form of a barge, will never be a mayor's bride". (Wie kaas snijdt als een schuit, wordt nooit een burgemeestersbruid").

It's their food with al the additions and ingredients that are banned because of their poisonous nature in Europe but still sold to gullible Americans as "Natural" and "Healthy".
