In this video I show how I used LED's to light the warp engine nacelles of the AMT 1:1400 USS Enterprise E model kit.

Looks great, Boyd! It looks like the Enterprise E won't be so bad to build after all. There's a lot of great tips in this build series. Thanks for going through the lighting pains so we can see.

Just Subscribed to your amazing channel, really learning a lot from your LED wiring that I hope to incorporate into my current build of QM2. Looking forward to future content, All the best to you 👍⚓🇦🇺

You are so good at electrical wiring! I lose my patience when I have to do it!

LOL, I used to race RC cars many years ago in my 20's, and I got good at soldering the connections. this past year, my son's Nintendo 3DS needed a new charging plug put into the back of it. I watched a video on how to do it, so I bought a new soldering iron and did what I could.... the iron got no where near hot enough, and I ended up frying the board, just like Boyd says not to do! We decided to get my son a new 3DS instead, transferred all his games, and he's happy. Now I'm building a Moebius Battlestar Galactica 1/4105 scale model, and I'm lighting it (and modifying it for the Blood and Chrome version), but I had to get a better iron and follow Boyd's advice to the temperature settings!😉

Went over to HDA's website and saw an Polar Lights USS Voyager 1:1000 model. Betting a lot of the techniques you're using on this build would work well on that model also.

Fantastic work as always, Boyd! Hey, do you think there will ever be an official Enterprise-E kit released that is larger than this? She needs more love! I'm in Texas too, and every day that the temperature registers at 97 degrees, we all know that it really means 100!

A Bigger kit would be nice! It's been a little cooler than normal here in SA for most of the summer but it's making up for it now. Very hot the last couple of weeks.

Looks great as always. Starting my first model in years, Enterprise 1:537 refit. Do you have any videos on airbrushing how to's? Paint mixing/thinning etc.? Thanks!
@TrekWorks2 жыл бұрын
I've gone over painting , thinning etc in a lot of videos but they are kind of scattered in amongst them all. Have fun with your build.

@@TrekWorks Thank you, I appreciate your response. Do you happen to have any videos for the 1/537 Enterprise refit? I searched through your channel, did not see one, but wanted to make sure I did not just miss it. Thanks again for your videos!

A little bit more trickie with the small spaces but it looks great ....I have the larger side I built years ago I would love to repaint it again this time with my airbrush I don't know the size of the one I have though lol ...again great work boyd 🖖😉

I didn't know there was a larger scale model of the Enterprise E. Was it made by AMT?
@ricardoortiz-wn6ff2 жыл бұрын
@@TrekWorks I think so back when the movie first contact came out that was 1997 the kit came out 2 months later

Hey Boyd. I was using LED strips that I got online from (I think) Amazon but no matter what I do it seems to be running hot. IN fact, its deforming the warp nacelles. I have an adjustable desktop power supply similar your yours and its set at 9v and 1amp. I just ordered some tape reels from HDA modelworks in the hopes these strips don't run as hot. Is that the case??

Hi I was wondering what size resistor have you used on the pulsating led on the nacelle?
@IainHamilton Жыл бұрын
Daft question (as always) but did you remove any of the plastic from the nacelles where the flux grills are going. Looks like you did but can't see any reference as such. Thanks

Hi Boyd how are you I have a question I'm working on Enterprise E and I was wondering if it would be smart to put the clear pieces together and then the paragrafix on and also would it be smart to paint them black I never worked with Perry Graphics before I was hoping to get some input have a good day

Boyd I got to tell you so you're telling us what you're doing The Longshot of your camera doesn't show us what you're really doing so it's kind of difficult for us to really tell how you're putting all this SMDs and LEDs and your paint you need to get a close-up so we could see what you're really doing not a criticism just an FYI
