Nice job, you seem to always bring back my high school/ college days. Had a High School friend that bought a Demon with what he said was a 440 (his Dad was a Plymouth Dodge Dealer special order). It was the scariest, squirrelest I have ever been in. He wrapped it around a telephone pole 6 months later. Looking back its amazing any of us survived.
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
Wow, I can't even imagen having a 440 in one of these. It had to be a rocket when it bit in. I had a Firebird that I thought it was a good idea to put a 455 in from a Bonnyville. That car scared me so bad that I sold it to the first person who had cash. LOL Found out later it didn't last a month before he totaled it. Fun days for sure.

Great work, looks really believable. 7:56 The round black cannister looking object on the left fender in the engine compartment is a vacuum reservoir for a vacuum operated heater valve.
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. It took me a bit to figure that out. I ended up Googling Vacuum connections for the car and it showed what it was and where it went. In a later video I show that I ran one hose to the firewall, but told everyone that I should have ran two, but there was no room to drill both holes. I was just happy to represent what it was for. LOL Thanks again and have a great day.

At 7:57, that looks like a plastic vacuum canister, usually found on vehicles with A/C. Its lines run to tiny vacuum lines behind the dashboard to the A/C control panel. The passenger compartment baffles/valves are positioned by those vacuum lines based on the position of the A/C control levers.
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I had no clue. I never had a car back then that had AC. Or an engine that ran every time. LOL But I half thought it was some sort of emission thing. I would never thought it was for AC.

I like how you did the weathering. Especially how it looked clean where water would run down. I noticed while you were showing the interior it looked like you had a Grampa Mark stamped on top of the tire well. But it went away as the video went on. I thought maybe you had a trademark stamp on your build. Or was my mind playing tricks on me? Haha

Nice man, cool little Duster, just like a high school kids car, except if it was something like I had, mine would've been beat up a little more, probably 4 different tires and wheels on it too! Haha! Actually I had a pickemup back then 76'.

So you mixed the flat green paint in with the floor wax? What ratios did you use? I like the effect.
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
First off, thanks for watching my video. I did not mix flat green with the floor wax. I mixed Tamiya's X-21 Flat Base www.amazon.com/Tamiya-Acrylic-X21-Flat-Base/dp/B01BPCLCI0/ref=asc_df_B01BPCLCI0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=646540113046&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6816234781966636554&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015474&hvtargid=pla-2015582495517&psc=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw44mlBhAQEiwAqP3eVgMrq2D3cc0uluHO2oE6lanSAQIODYzTcpS9W2AjJUwR4NaA5vaMxBoCoisQAvD_BwE I mixed this in a plastic shot glass. I didn't measure it out. I've used the flat base with floor wax for years and years on my model ships to flatten the shine down after adding decals, so I have an eye for how much to add. What I would recommend is to start out with a 20 to 1 ratio. 20 drops of clear to 1 drop of flat base. Test that on something else first, and adjust accordingly. With 20 to 1 as a base you should get a slight dulling. With 10 to 1 you should get an almost flat to flat. Just make sure you mix the flat base VERY WELL first. It is a lot thicker than regular Tamiya paint and it mixes different. Just remember to test it on a spoon or something that you've painted the same color as what you are going to flat coat. I've had to adjust things more than a few times to get the look I want. Never use the flat base by itself. It will dry gray as heck (don't ask me how I know this) It's great stuff if you just want a dull to flat surface.
