Great trip report, and nicely edited! The Acela was the first Amtrak train I rode on the Northeast Corridor, when my mom gave me a ticket for a college interview in Boston. That ride renewed my stagnant interest in trains and led me to many more exciting rides in the US and abroad!

Thanks for the video, I never got a chance to take the Accela. It is a real shame that there is no true high speed rail in North America. California should have at least one by the end of the decade! There are so many densely populated corridors in North America that can really benefit from HSR, and would be be preferable to short distance air travel as it is in parts of Europe and Asia. Even Morocco has a new HSR line.

the moroccan system especially is crazy to me. As a moroccan myself it’s a great system in what a lot of ppl still regard as a “developing country” lol but as an American, I just can’t see how this isn’t possible in the US🗿

@@papagramps1257 Yes, it is really odd to see a country that was literally developed off of railroad infrastructure lag so far behind in HSR development. Kudos to Morocco and other so called developing countries for having the foresight to build such important transit infrastructure.

metropark station is in woodbridge nj its a large town not the middle of nowhere

Woodbridge is a large town but Metropark isn't centrally located within Woodbridge. It was one of the very first true park and ride stations, hence park being right in the title. A few office buildings are nearby but that's really about it. Only now are there plans to really develop the immediate surroundings of the station, starting with the half of its original surface parking ocean that has remained unused and undeveloped for 20 years since they opened the garage that replaced the other half.

Unsure on why they used so much modern architecture at this station when it clearly doesn't fit. Modern architecture in itself isn't even ugly, but it looks so bad in this beautiful train station.

What a shame that you could instead take a train two stops to BWI, and fly to Boston for less money and less time. I prefer the train, but something has got to change..

Amtrak is NOT a "for profit company." It's owned 100% by the US Government. THAT is it's problem.

I was trying to say that the goal of Amtrak, since its founding, has always been to turn a profit, but I guess I used the wrong terminology.

If you want to see a well run government train service go to Italy and take Trenitalia’s high speed trains. The Frecciarossa goes up to 300 km/h (190 mph), and has quickly supplanted short distance air travel in Italy. You can also go to China, Spain, and/or Japan to see the pinnacle of HSR travel. Spain actually has the second highest total distance of HSR in the world and is still expanding, plus there is good connectivity to local metro networks.

@@barryrobbins7694 There is competition among train operators in Italy and other European countries. THAT is why trenitalia is so good. It has competition.
