Amtrak Cascades Train with new Locomotive

Amtrak Cascades train 505 stops at Vancouver, WA station with a new Siemens Charger (SC-44) locomotive in the lead. These locomotives are strong - notice how quickly the train accelerates on departure.

Wait you call that a quick acceleration? Now I'm from Europe and even with their engine driven trains of similar length that's a slow acceleration. A little below the middle honestly. But it's still alright. It's also nice to finally see a modern style engine on American tracks that isn't just stuck on the North East corridor and even that is on the edge, I mean most capcars in the US are just completely flat. How are they gonna be aerodynamic at all?!

Yes. They're newer and more powerful, and can operate on Interstate highways like we saw earlier this year at Nisqually.

Not a fan... i like the originals, surfliners, f40ph, aem7's and gp40wh-2's they should of also kept the old k5las the way they originally were, they sound way better, now i can only get my railfanning entertainment with Amtrak dashes and certain freight trains and old videos of trains before they got replaced with this new crap

Yeah. Plus it's the sleekest, most modern thing you've got on the Diesel Network really. Before that it was really only those little DMU running on some "Commuter lines" like the Sprinter in Oceanside with their old Desiro trains.
