I sure miss that era of Amtrak. Was the best. Clean trains and lots of accomodations.

Great videos of some Amtrak Heritage cars. They were very comfortable. Also, loved the shot of the classic streetcar.

7:27 Hey it's NJT #4145! This engine got traded to MARC a few years back and you see it around on the Camden and Brunswick lines sometimes. Cool to see it out and about from back in the day!

The Broadway Limited looks gorgeous! I miss the 90’s rail system. It’s more treasure level than today’s trains.

NJ Transit is still running this rolling stock today, except they are older and much dirtier. Even the double decker cars, which have been in service nearly 20 years, are looking old and filthy. Nowadays, there's no point looking for a window seat. You can't see anything out of the window anyway, as it's completely fogged over with crud and damage.

They aren't running ALP-44's nor Comet III's anymore, and haven't for years.

The oldest multilevel cars entered service in 2006, but the majority of them are newer than that. Dirty is one thing, but they certainly don’t look “old”. The Arrow IIIs are old, the Multilevel’s are certainly not old, and Bombardier still has the same basic design for sale in there catalogue. 20 years is also pretty young for most railroad rolling stock, so that’s not saying much. 40 years should be the expected lifespan of most locomotives and passenger cars.

@@jvohanian Well they are still running the Arrow III units, which have been in service since 1977, unless I hallucinated one pulling into Metropark last week.

Okay, it pretty much means that they'll either have to give up and lose the company or just move on to next-generation electricity

@Viewer_Discretion_is_Advised I'm gonna guess 1992. My dad did the video, but I was there as a 16 year old. I might have photo that I took somewhere in my collection. That might have a year on it.

@Viewer_Discretion_is_AdvisedCorrect NJT 4102 was GP40PH before rebuilt into NJT 4110 when 4148 was GP40PH-2A.
