Amtrak Texas Eagle: Rolling from Van Galder bus to Metropolitan Lounge

From the Van Galder bus in Madison to the Metropolitan Lounge in Union Station, this is the beginning of my journey on the Texas Eagle from Chicago to San Antonio in October, 2023.
The bus trip is made easier by first calling Van Galder dispatch to let them know that you'll be requiring the wheelchair lift for your particular time and date. This allows them to configure the seating in the back of the bus to accommodate your chair so it's ready when you get there. Otherwise, it's annoying, they have to do it on the fly, then you're holding up the show. I've had some challenging situations when it wasn't preconfigured, takes a lot of extra time, the driver might not be familiar with the lift, etc. Pays to plan ahead.
