Doc. I think it's about time YOU had a moment with yourself. I've been off and on in your channel and other bronies channels where you've shown up and it's been nice seeing you playing the big brother to them or the reliable father figure. But.... I've also seen moments where you yourself have hit YOUR lowest. I know it's scary to seek advice from others when you've been the one giving it to others. But keeping on a brave and strong face is hard not just on the body but the soul as well. I think it's time that DrWolf has A Moment With Dr Wolf.

@@dragonmasterknight7 greetings mood kindred. I got started as an internet presence writing fanfics and making sliding image music videos to advertise them. I've recently tried making small theory videos based in the world of Warhammer 40,000, but ultimately, I've only just breached 300 subscribers over 3-4 years. I have big ideas for videos, but I lack either the equipment, funding, or in most cases raw talent to bring my ideas to life. I wanted to show my appreciation to Inverted Shadow and DRWolf for bringing this issue to light. It's an issue that I hope and suspect will reach a lot of people. Imposter syndrome is an extremely common affliction, both in the creative industry and the helping industry. I actually have a story about imposter syndrome from my own experiences as a graduate student in an art therapy program. I was leading a module on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) for my theories class in graduate school and one of the tenants of CBT is that there are several cognitive distortions that many people have, including distortions where people undermine their own accomplishments, skills, strengths, etc. For the module, I asked the participants to raise their hand if they felt like an imposter in the graduate program. Everyone, all 18 people in the class, raised their hand. It was something that was really surprising to me, because all my classmates had an idea about what the expectations for a graduate student in an art therapy program was and decided that everyone else fit the description except for themselves. After talking with several of them, many thought that they were too disorganized, too slow, too quiet or too loud, or even that the only reason they got into the program was because the interviewers took pity on them. The list goes on of "what others are like" being the same as "what I'm not" or devising reasons of why they don't belong. So, for the module, I had my classmates do an art project where they create one piece that represents the cognitive distortion of believing that they're an imposter in the graduate program and another piece that contradicts that cognitive distortion, and compare the two pieces, see which scenario is more likely. Looking at all the thoughts of what people think is the ideal creator or ideal therapist, if we pull them all together, we get a result of a person that can't and does not exist in any scenario and, frankly, that's how it should be. The strengths and weaknesses that make us unique add something new to every community. All the members of my class berated themselves for not being ideal, but being not-ideal is what adds new experiences and new perspectives that makes the community stronger. I feel it's a similar case, if not more-so, for the creatively-inclined community. Different strengths and weaknesses produce new art and new ideas.

The part about having Imposter Syndrome is not only hearing an inside voice saying what you do isn't as great as other people might think. It also involves actually believing at some level that the voice is correct and then having a constant fear that your friends/coworkers/family will some day realize it too and then they will judge you and your accomplishments accurately. In other words, it involves (at least in my experience) not only low self-esteem, but also a sense of dread at the thought of "being caught". "He looks sus."

I remember being in one stream, can't remember which though at the moment, that I said something to help try and encourage Inverted Shadow, and it brought him to a standstill and tears for a moment. He's always made stuff that's made me laugh my ass off even at the worst of times that I was feeling doubts about my own worth. I hope he continues making kick ass content and keeps being as funny as he's always been with his work. And if he takes the time to read this, thanks for giving me the small portion of the time to say "Thanks for the Laughs, and everything else." And if dr.wolf reads this, keep being you, we need more like you to help the lost in this world.

About the only stream I remember why Shade's broke down crying was that one in VRChat where his friends did a small eulogy for his grandmother. IF you want to try and find that stream you're thinking of, it might likely be on his other KZbin where he uploads the Twitch vods.

Dear lord I needed this. I've been living with imposter syndrome for a few years now after I struggled through college but due to covid, didn't do half of the modules and came out with very high grades when I know if it didn't happen I wouldn't have done as well as predicted. Not to mention my dependency on others praise to keep my self esteem anywhere close to up which on turn makes me put their happiness a bigger priority to mine. So in a few ways, this one hit me hard, not as emotionally mind you just.... what I've needed to hear for a while now.

I relate with a lot of what Shadow was saying. Sometimes it definitely feels like my accomplishments aren’t everything I had hoped for in the long run, taking care of myself without really getting help aside from family or a small lot of friends, and I usually try to operate independently without really considering the long term hurt. At the end of the day, it’s the little things that really keep me going and realize that short term wins count towards the long-term goal with improvement to spare. Rock on Rush, you got this buddy 👍

Thomas Sanders covered imposter syndrome in his cartoon therapy episode using Avatar the last Airbender. He used the concept in Earth bending called Jing. Fighting is positive Jing, retreating is negative Jing. and then 3rd is neutral Jing which is doing neither and waiting to make your right move. this is both for fighting and in life. Since battling with imposter syndrome makes dealing with your selfworth is hard, it's suggested to try and work from the neutral. Saying “maybe, it's possible...that I'm not as worthless as I think I am.” Bridge thoughts to live in the neutral where you can change and hopefully a better healthy perspective will find you.

"its good to be helping" those words struck me. they also just so happen to sound somewhat similar to what i like to say to my boss/friends/coworkers. "I just want to be helpful"... but its not easy when im 1. often pretty forgetful, 2. often plagued by a self-destructive mindset, and 3. it feels like lots of people take my help for granted when i actually am being helpful. I'm not good with expressing my emotions, due to being diagnosed with Asperger's. so im just going to leave it there. also, Dr Wolf. you should find some time for some self-care. our inner demons may never truly leave us alone, but they can be delayed and held at bay... er, somehow. everypony is different, so what i may find good for self-care for myself, you may possibly find self-destructive for yourself. you're an amazing person, and you've helped a lot of people with your videos, im sure. please, keep doing so, but at a healthy pace for you. Question for the Doc: would you having a super form that is a Mythical Creature version of a Wolf. Like a Elemental Mythical Wolf like Creature that isn't just what is known as a Werewolf, or any KNOWN Mythical Wolf like Creature. Because I have seen some Unknowned Mythical Creatures before. Like say a Creature known as the "Darkend Terror" (P.S. the Darkend Terror is something I came up with, also I think you having a Super Form. Might have it's trigger be related to Both Sadness and Positive Emotions. Like I feel like if you DID Gained a Super Form, it might also be caused from not CHAOS MAGIC. But instead Spiritual Energy)
