Wait a minute... Dr Wolf can stand upright and has opposable thumbs! Isn't that a huge advantage?
@cartoonfan9185
@cartoonfan9185 10 жыл бұрын
He still has them, whereas the ponies do not. Also, I read another comment saying wolves have super sharp smelling, which is actually a good point.
@cartoonfan9185

***** True. But, he's the only character in Ponyville who has opposable thumbs. Hmm... since Dr. Wolf is an OC, if he actually lived in Ponyville, would he have to face discrimination for being a non-pony?
@cartoonfan9185
@cartoonfan9185 10 жыл бұрын
True, but they only shunned Zecora because she was from the Everfree Forest and not because she was a zebra. The episode Bridle Gossip is a lot more comparable to zenophoia than racism within a country.
@SasamiTM
@SasamiTM 10 жыл бұрын
Cartoon Fan I'd be rather curious to that myself. After all there is one thing about the good doctor that wasn't addressed with Zecora, the buffalo, or any other character in the show really. He is a wolf, a carnivore. What is the place of a predatory animal (even an enlightened one who has adjusted his diet and gets his required protean from other sources) in a culture of herbivores? Would simply his presence punch buttons way down in the pony brain, on an instinctive fear level? It would be more than simple xenophobia when there is a possibility the other guy's ancestors killed and ate your ancestors.
@cartoonfan9185
@cartoonfan9185 10 жыл бұрын
Ooh... Very good point.... I'd have to think that's something the ponies would be afraid of very much. This is why I, as a future furry author, believe you can't have a world of anthropomorphic animals work without there being regular animals, or beasts as I call them, who are inferior to the animals.

Corpulent Brony His horn has always been a toilet paper tube. But it came off in this one, as if a metaphor of his coming a bit undone mentally in this video... What's new to me is the whole satire of self identity social justice tumblr types. Maybe its just now come to the fore front. Or maybe there's been more of this on their tumblr, but not on youtube until now.

@Tiyev
@Tiyev 10 жыл бұрын
Corpulent Brony I guess its sometimes true, that love makes you blind. Such bliss to not pay any mind to such things as Phantom's horn, or how it got there... Most rolls of toilet paper get discarded, but this one was destined for greatness. Just think, in some ponies lavatory, a certain roll of soft tissue was used, and used up. It once held the tissue that was used to wipe pony posterior, and now its a fixture on the forehead of your favorite stallion. May the legend of Phantom's horn never die. To get to where it is in life, on Phantom's head, it had to deal with a lot of crap. Never forget.

Quite enjoyable. I like how you have a few sessions where in the end, the client doesn't change much, or misinterprets what you were going for, as I feel that is often the more probable outcome when discussing issues with others, especially on the internet. Very amusing PH and Dr.Wolf, I quite enjoyed this one.

Haha, good one, Dr. Wolf! I have to admire you're being the fair and balanced straight man in this bit. As a parody of SJWs featuring a transgender-analogous character, could have easily taken a transphobic turn. But thankfully, even though you portray Phantom Horn as being full of himself, and wanting attention/acceptance for the wrong reasons, at no point do either of you ever suggest that he's not actually a unicorn trapped in an earth pony's body. I can't tell you how refreshing this is, that you can have such a nuanced spoof. Yeah, Phantom Horn [his character] is a bit of a jerk, but that doesn't change who he really is. If he does identify as a unicorn, he doesn't have to be a holier-than-thou SJW who complains online. Above all, he's just got to accept himself :)

I love the little tidbits you got here Doc, interesting stuff. The picture of Canterlot (had a little visit eh? You do have what appears to be a gifted picture from the royal sisters xD). Also love both the black and white landscape of the cave and what appeared to be a signed picture of Fluttershy (a nod to your first ever video?). I'd also like to see the story to that mortar&pestle. As well as that philosophical horse bust...in fact, just tell me the story behind that one, I am really curious. Also a notice on the character model. It seems that in when you're alone, your vest is unbuttoned and when doing sessions with others you button yourself up. Trying to have a distinguishable comfort when being professional and none professional, eh? Don't have reading glasses a whole lot when not doing sessions either.

I have to say, this is the most I've laughed at the ending phrase since the first installment where VoiceofReason goes bananas over FiW. Not that the rest of the video didn't bring a smile to my face, but most of the time when we get to "it's good to be helping", it actually hits closer to the heart than here. .... I fear I may have put my foot in my mouth unintentionally.

I seriously wish that I could be on there and talk about Expectations vs. Reality. Like with Spike when he wants and expects himself to be a big part of everything but in reality is only just a side character who's mostly the comedic relief, or like the Derpy fiasco, where they made Derpy who she was yet people through a hissy fit about it because she was 'Offensive to mentally handicapped people'. I can relate to that topic because people expect me to be a great and smart man, when in reality I'm going through massive problems that I can't find a way out of it...I hope this can be another discussion for you Dr. Wolf...but sadly I can express or talk about it or else people might get mad...or something completely different I don't know.

Hmmm, I wonder if Phantom Horn has ever heard of or read certain kiddy stories like, "The unicorn without a horn", or maybe "The baby unicorn"... cause both stories have to do with unicorns that look like ordinary horses (for the most part) and have to earn their horns through certain trials and or tasks. If not, maybe he should, because he might get a clue to getting his own unicorn horn at long last...(if he's still certain that he is a unicorn that is..) Just a thought...

I imagine you're referring to the Timber Wolves in the show. I always thought of those being closer related to monsters than to actual wolves, so their size isn't very reliable for comparison. Dr Wolf, to my knowledge, more often than not has been depicted as being slightly larger than Spike, he's even said so himself in the past.
@DRWolf001
@DRWolf001 10 жыл бұрын
mrtomfox That is indeed correct. It makes much more sense for DRWolf to be more closely related to wolves than the creatures made of timber that were depicted in the show. And I've always seen DRWolf as being smaller than the ponies, around spike's size.
