Opinions are all legitimate, but when comparing seasons, I find it really hard to put anyone even close to Sinner in 2024, as for now. Sinner has by far more points in the rankings and in the race to the finals. Same number of Slams as Alcaraz, but more titles, and he's also 55 - 5 in W/L, which puts him on an incredible trajectory as far as an all-time seasons go. I recognize the absolute greatness of winning Wimbledon and RG back to back, and adding the silver medal at the Olympics, it's an incredible stretch put together from Alcaraz, but if we're considering the whole season (tho it has to finish) I don't think Sinner and Alcaraz really had a comparable year.

Agree. This is not a close call at all. In the slams, that Sinner did not win, he went QF, SF. Carlos went R64, QF. Carlos won one masters, Yannik won two. I know that women are getting annoyed with numbers but this differential in numbers is hard to ignore.

@tennishistoryandresultsdat4540 How about H2H between the 2 in 2024? It's always brought up with regards Djokovic and Nadal/Federer!

@@DaveOwen-vn6ie I never fancied H2H as a significant measure. It relies on the slice of data that is too small and narrow.

Looking outside of statistics alone the doping situation and how it was handled taints Sinner's season.

I like shotmaking... the mens final was near the bad 'ole. ' blooper ball ' days. - ten , 15 shot backhand to backhand crosscourt, nobody trying anything...... on the other hand, gosh it'd be good if K. Muchova and E. Rybakina could play even 2 full years but.... some folks just don't have pro sports tough bodies. I'll mention - NBA super talent. B. Walton. couldn't play half his teams games , over years.

I am pleasantly surprised that Amy recognizes the quality of Carlos' achievements in 2024 so far as compared to the quantity of Sinner's titles. Carlos is a far more interesting and dynamic player than Sinner in my opinion. I also thought that this USO was pretty boring and the viewership statistics were at an all time low. The Olympic hangover and early exit of the most interesting players contributed to this.
