Like others, I used to listen to these songs during high school when I was being bullied, for years. It's strange to listen to a song that was around when I genuinely didn't think I'd make it into my 20s, let alone to my late 30s with a family and a child of my own. To anyone who's reading this who's having a hard time, it does get better. Just hold on

Imagine knowing as a kid in the early 2000s that in 20 years time we'd be able to talk directly to Amy about her influence on our childhoods. Only now we're adults. Time can be such a weird thing. Anyway, it's awesome to see her personally replying to people. I had no idea she was British. I always assumed American given this video!

The location does look more like an American high school than a British secondary school, especially given that they’re not wearing school uniforms. (And the fact the sun’s out in the last scene! Lol!) Makes you wonder if the Plastics from Mean Girls were inspired by the girls in this video.

She had 3 top 20 singles and one that reached 21 in the charts. She did better than most artists ever do. She probably suffered a bit having released her first album around the time Avril Lavigne was big. I'm sure she was always being compared to her and called the British version of Avril Lavigne.

I was just scrolling on tik tok and a clip of this song was played. This music video has been on my mind since I saw it for the first and only time playing in a music shop when I was about 7. I remember going home and trying to research the song “by amy with bunk beds in the music video” but never had any luck. As the internet got better every year I’d google it again but still never find it. Seeing that clip on tik tok just scratched a 20 year old itch in my brain and i no longer feel like I imagined the song after never being able to track it down. It’s wild people saying it was on pop princess albums - I never had those so it totally slipped past me. Loved listening to it again today, I have just watched the video like 10 times and I’m 7 again mesmerised as hearing the song that’s been in the back of my mind wondering if it actually existed for so many years

Isn't it weird, Some bullies grow up to be decent people. I bumped into one not so long ago and we laughed and joked how he made my life hell, and I mentioned that if I had known what I could've gotten away with then, I would've chinned him. But then there are some who were pieces of shit, and still are today. And I laugh at them because they're jobless/homeless/in prison. Then there are some who will not acknowledge me because they know what they did. Yeah, school was shit, but this song used to rattle around my head.

I didn't even have language for the way I was feeling, what I was doing, you helped give me some context and solace. I'm pretty sure I even started using 'smurf' instead of swear words in my diary for a while because of you lmao. The lines you wrote that still stick with me to this day as a messy weird 30 year old are "There's a ladder in your tights and who gives a fuck if whoops, you ain't shiny and perfect". I love this son's so much! Why is it the only song on the album not on Spotify? The whole album is great but I really miss this track.... Glad I have the cd I guess!

@@AmyStudtOfficial I'm in the Netherlands maybe that has something to do with it? Listening to your old album got me listening to your newer tracks too and I'm glad I did!! The songs are so beautiful!
