i love the texecom premier, one of my personal favourites :)
@jakeyb1710 жыл бұрын
Curiously, on the Premier Elite 24 (I'm not sure if this is also applicable for the Premier) the chime tone is different between the keypad and extension speaker. On the keypad, it is a low-high tone and on the extension it is high-low. Also, the Elite doesn't have the confirmation chime when you unset whereas the Premier does.

Hi thanks for that just one thing I've a pyronix sterling 10 should I wire it to the speaker terminals or wire it as a siren In line with the bell terminals
@mrmattandmrchay9 жыл бұрын
Sorry, missed your message there so sorry didn't reply. These are just speakers - if you wired it into the bell terminals the only sound will be a big pop when 12v is injected into the speaker cone :D I've used loads of Sterling 10 panels (the keypads look really tatty after 2-3 years!) and yes, you would connect to the speaker terminals because the panel generates the noises for the speakers.

Didn't you have an internal siren (sounder)? It was quite loud but not as loud as I thought as I thought it would be really loud and it sounded similar to the Texecom alarm tone. By the way that's a very nice gold brass keypad.
@mrmattandmrchay10 жыл бұрын
There are two speakers here, one in hall and the other on the landing which is perfectly adequate for this place (possibly an overkill). 12v sounders make a standard sound and you wouldn't be able to hear the Texecom alarm tones which are different and generated by the panel.
@JAMESJAMES260002 жыл бұрын
For some strange reason when I set my texe alarm instead of the speaker playing the normal exit tone it plays a up down siren sort of noise if that makes any sense. Any idea what this tone is?
@kevinombecq1571 Жыл бұрын
The 2-tone siren indicates the panel still receives alarm triggers, e.g. when you are exiting the room. The moment all triggers are gone, you should get one continuous tone

What does the bell box look like? I like the setting sound!
@mrmattandmrchay5 жыл бұрын
It's a stainless steel alarm box called a "sigmet??' made by CQR. Couldn't find a photo of it as it's an obsolete model and discontinued years and years ago. Search for Elmdene Rapier, looks a bit like that but the strobe is in it's own window on the front at the bottom.
@alarmmuseum5 жыл бұрын
Thankyou, I think I know which one you mean, I think there was one called the sigma but I’m not sure if that’s the same, I think CQR and Ventcroft made the same bellbox. Ventcroft named it the horizon and CQR named it the sigma.
@mrmattandmrchay5 жыл бұрын
Nope... Ive found the actual name of it though... CEQMET by cqr. Did a google search for it and no results (even image searches). This was 12 years ago now though. Discontinued long ago.

Depends what's wrong with it (meaning, it opens quite a bit topic!). Some units have a speaker that faces backwards towards the wall and the connections corrode on the speaker. Could be the unit isn't getting a trigger from the panel, could just be a faulty unit. Also, are we talking a 'wired' sounder or a 'wireless' sounder? Any idea what model?

what internal sounder/speaker is been used, that is so nice and loud, I have a ton of texecom gear ready to go in my new house prem 48...
@mrmattandmrchay10 жыл бұрын
Good question, and I didn't buy them in any shop. I found some on ebay. I think they were 8ohms, but two wired in series leads to 16ohms - which then is a standard alarm speaker.In fact, I've just done a search on ebay and found some (or VERY similar ones). Go to ebay in the uk and search for this item number 360703175573.Wish I'd installed Texecom in my house, but at the time I had loads of Galaxy gear and I've cut a flush galaxy brass keypad into the end of our kitchen cabinets - so too late! Works the way that I want it to anyway (eg - press B on bedroom keypad "silent-part set's" the system with one press, stuff like that).

Paul B This guy didn't like the conventional alarm speakers, so I found these on ebay. I just searched for "mini ceiling speaker". You are looking for 8ohms or ideally 16ohms. Mine I think were 8ohms, but I had two which I wired in series to make 16ohms. I had a quick look on ebay (UK) and found something similar... item 261253031485, and there is this as well 171470971203. Hope this helps.

wow what panel is that, do all texecom alarms sound like that also was that the risco wireless internal sounder making that noies. btw i have a scantronic 9600 which also has an extremely loud internal siren but sadly the 9600 alarm is not availiable anymore but it was a great panel imo
@mrmattandmrchay10 жыл бұрын
This is a Texecom premiere 24 (wired system). Yes, I agree - the scantronic 9600 was really loud - but wasn't too keen on the chime which was really just a split second of the alarm noise.
@calumr205110 жыл бұрын
yeah i agree with you there, the chime sounds like a strangled duck, pretty annoying lol , i now know which panel to look for if my 9600 alarm ever decides to kick the bucket

@calumr205110 жыл бұрын
forde52 yeah i honestly do not know why they had to include the internal sounder for the chime the keypad would have been enough. my guess is the 9600 was a commercial panel and chimes tones could not heard in certain circumstances hence the internal sounder?. deff agree with you on the 9600 alarm tone extremely loud indeed and high frequency, my 9600 is 25 years old and can still deafen you.brill panel imo
@jamey.griffiths004 жыл бұрын
you don't want to be under a sound bomb when you set the alarm zone type to fire which in my case was a pir , trust me its loud! ive tried it and omg its loud. ive set the alarm that is installed at my dads which is the newer veritas r8 as it dosent have the r8 branding underneith the veritas logo on the keypad, well in engerneer mode ive set it to sound like the old veritas sounds and the old sounds are compatible with the newer system, you can tell if your r8 system is set on the older sounds by either part 1or 2 set the alarm as the internal sounder and bell box is disabled by default, so its just the keypads internal sounder, the old tone for the burglar alarm is a deep buzz tone, the fire tone is a alternating tone. if you diddnt know there are two part set options on the r8 which in the programming menu you can program what zones is active and what zones are not in part set 1or2. to part 1 set your alarm if you don't know, its user code then part, for part 2 set, its user code the number 2 button then part. btw we have a sound bomb 2 as our internal sounder, and god its loud and tried putting masking and trex tape on and its still bluming loud!don't worry ive sice changed the zone type back to a security setting. i think its either gaurd or inhibited don't remember of the top of my head, we have a downstairs bedroom with a pir because there are doors leading to our garden which we don't use so i've set the zone type to whats been said above, so if a burglar breaks in they will be very suprised and make a mad dash. here are the zone type you typcally use but more upmarket texecom panels/systems have more types. 1. entry/exit which if triggerd will set the timer going for you to enter code. 2. inhibited entry- will go off if triggerd first but if you walk through an entry/exit zone first this detector will be ignored. 3. gaurd- walk through this even if your entry timer is going it will go into alarm. 4. fire, for if you install a smoke detector and need it monitored all the time as a fire zone. thats all i can think of at the top of my head. but a neat feature on the r8 is that you cant set or unset the alarm using the default engineers code, thats what if found on my dads but im not sure if thats with all r8 systems. if you get the r8 plus you can install and use the texecom excell lcd keypad which will show you what zone has been activated and the name if the name was put in. so it would be technically an addressable system as it shows you the exact location. a conventional system uses a kepad with just a row of led's and detectors can be wired into one zone so you wont know what zone has been activated unless its been documented. when we first moved in we had no clue of the zone locations and what zone number was wired to what location, so i did a latching walk test then wrote down the zones. then i reprogrammed the panel using the manual.

The 'sound bomb' was a 12v unit with 4 piezo speakers. They are loud, but in my experience the Besson Bandits were louder (securitytradesupplies.com/products/bandit-security-sounder/). I've used the Veritas 8 before, but a long time ago. To set or unset from engineers code can only be done when engineers mode has been accessed, else an engineer could unset any of their intruder systems which would be a very bad design if it were true! Texecom excel keypad - the menu is different. If I remember, you use the scroll up/down arrows a lot more than the premier/elite panels. There are far fewer options as well. Sounds like you have a great interest of alarm systems, what age are you and what job do you want to work in? (i.e. security industry?)

@@mrmattandmrchay i'm now 19 and i've got autism and allways been facinated with alarms, i actuarlly want to work in the care sector for children with disabillities, i'm now volunteering at one where i went for restpite. i have a rare burglar alarm system from the 90s which is a optima xl6 which when i was in the menu i accidentialy type the command to default the sytem back to the default code which was 0123 which i've forgot how i did that sequence. I've wtached your vids for awhile now and watched your broadmore siren video, my mum happed to be in the vacinity of a siren when it went off and it was not a test at the time her car did not have central locking so she knew not to let anyone in the car. it was before my time she was either off duty and going home or she was traveling to her job, which was a nurse. back when my mum was training to be a nurse i don't know weather they still do this but you had to go and work on a mental ward. i know about how ADT systems work and the monitoring station ony rings if you activated two motion sensor, you get single triggers where if you activate it if you stay in that zone your fine if you move out then you will get a call, but you can get whats called a double trigger but adt calls it a TMD and its basically two motion sensors in one so if you trigger one of those your dead, you have to give a disarm password to them for them not to send the cops.

@mrmattandmrchay10 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I can put URLs on here, but if you go to alert electrical dot com, this is the only wholesaler that sells to the public (UK site). Not sure if you are experienced in fitting alarms or not, but if you're not in the industry then it's not straight forward to fit. It's a wired system also (not wireless) - you can't see the cables because I fitted the keypad when the lobby was being built, so they are in the wall. Very good panel though and I'd recommend it.

Thanks for the spelling correction. I used to like the Scantronic 9500 alarm noise, but this is a panel from the mid-late 80s! Which panel do you recommend relating to speaker noises? We use Galaxy all the time. Cramming exit, entry, hurry up during entry, alarm, fault and fire tones all into varying the volume and pulse rates.... surely it's now time for the panel to evolve and develop some different 'meaningful' tones?
