You can cycle from Stockwell in south London to Wanstead in the far north east of London in about 75 minutes, entirely on protected cycled lanes and very quiet streets.
The route is around 23 km long (14 miles) and makes use of Cycleway 5, (formerly known as Quietway 5), Cycleway 3, the new link on Mansell Street, Cycleway 2, and a series of low-traffic neighbourhoods installed by Newham and Waltham Forest councils, as well as Lambeth's Oval LTN.
By Tube the journey takes under an hour, but you may find that your journey time to your final destination is quicker by bike. Either way, there's not a lot in it.
