Steve and I talked for around an hour. Here's a small clip of us speaking Polish. I'm going to upload the other clips later on that are language learning related / Polish related. Got a lot more videos coming soon in general as well. Cheers!

I've been studying Polish through KZbin videos for about a year, and I'm at about the same level. It is very difficult. Like him, it is lot easier to understand than to speak properly. If I watch a Polish video with polish subtitles, I can usually get the "gist" of what is being said. I then will watch the video with English subtitles also if available. I didn't know 1 word of Polish or had any familiarity with other Slavic languages when I began learning, so it has definitely been difficult, but I've enjoyed it. For other native English speakers trying to learn Polish, I'd say don't get frustrated. I feel that I make progress and at times, and then have setbacks, but in reality everyday I get a little better. I also wouldn't worry about being able to speak it "correctly". Even native Poles have a hard time doing that. You'll go crazy trying to learn all the conjugations and the different possible spelling of words based on their position in a sentence.

Congratulations for taking this challenge! It so sweet how Steve mixes languages❤😂. I hear also Ukrainian. Just smile! English seems to be a kind of mixture of Germanic, Latin and Celtic and so is French - very roughly speaking, please forgive me such a folk interpretation without detailed and proper research. But I'm just trying to say 'don't worry, at least we are all in this one big indoeuropean family!' - if you take a closer look, you can still see it. So our remote common ancestors used even more cases in decliniation than it is in contemporary Polish. The most basic words, used very often on daily basis change very little and behave in an archaic way. So even in a so reduced modern English in pronomens you can find cases : nominative for subject "I" - "ja" , but "me" - "mnie" (accusative as an object). As you see this is the same in English and in Polish. Talking in Polish you forgot to decline it. I guess you aren't a big fan of grammar, but I hope you'll find my hint interesting and it will help to remember😃. Have fun learning Polish and good luck!!!

Tyle w temacie. Steve shouldn't worry at all to communicate with poles. I am pretty sure that he wouldn't have the slightest problem with communication. If I had the opportunity to talk to him, I would think that he is Czech or Slovak who speaks Polish very well. That's all.

U speak polish very well, actually novice students make similar mistakes, it is literal translation, for me it was and sometimes still it is the hardest in English. Even now I am not sure if I use correct sentences. The most important is try and try and don't give up. Polish language is hard to understand too, especially if u try to watch movies without subtitles, I am native poles, and sometimes when I watch some polish movie I don't understand some words because actors don't speak clearly. I have been learning English for many years and I am still confused when I don't understand English conversations in movies, because English actors also use some hard shortcuts or they speak quickly and then I have problem to understand. ( but my learning it is by work, I have to read and sometimes I have to write something, I don't have much conversation). Btw I found way how to learn English during watching movies without subtitles, the best way for me this is selecting not English movie but with English dubbing, usually this English is really clear, maybe for some people that way will be helpful too. I know that is easier way, but for novice inpatient students it will be more interesting than to be always confused because some actor don't say clearly. U are lucky in learning polish because u have polish girl, this is big gift if u want to speak polish.
