Edit: After several comments, we've updated the title and description to reflect that these services are available primarily in America. They may be available elsewhere but we're unsure at this time. That being said, please comment here if you know of any free services for other territories! We would like to learn and potentially make a follow-up if we can gather info on some other services. Check out the services mentioned here: www.crackle.com/ www.kanopy.com/ imdb.com/tv/ www.asiancrush.com/ tubitv.com/ As a bonus, catch the card in the video to watch A Page of Madness right here on KZbin! What are your favorite free streaming services that we might have missed?

KZbin's movie service has a free with ads section for North Americans. Its America focused and I don't remember seeing any live action Japanese films, but it did have a surprisingly large selection of anime movies from popular older series (street fighter, inuyusha etc) and it rotates the selection, might be worth checking every now and then.

I wish there was a service that focuses on obscure asian movies like abashiri prison and samuria movies with the 70s groove sound track, also chinese horror from the 80s and 90s catagory III gore serial killer movies.

Can you search "imdb tv 'the name of the movie'" on google to search it?
@CinemaNippon3 жыл бұрын
Just tried 'Imdbtv [movie]' a few times and unfortunately the results seem spotty at best. Mostly, the indexed pages just link to IMDb proper. Good thinking, but it seems to be a little shaky.

Oh no!! 😭 I'd be curious to see what services are available outside of America? Do you know of any?

@@CinemaNippon yeah I know I can't blame you guys. My experience is that very few streaming services work. Crunchyroll has a subset of their library. Prime has a decent selection of older titles (not many asian ones though), Netflix as well, has a limited library... I have found a site that catalogs titles and what sites stream them in Sweden. I kind of wish there was one for TV shows as well. But of the free, ad-supported services. Outside the local cable and satellite systems. Haven't stumbled over any of note. I'm not even a cheapskate. I am willing to pay a month or so for a premium streaming service. But finding one that accepts our money is nigh impossible. Incidentally. I have noticed some public libraries here in Sweden has a local version of the library system you guys mentioned. I haven't looked unto how it impacts the public libraries financially though. It is fun to find out about movies on your channel nevertheless. Even if I struggle to find legal copies at times.

@@jmalmsten Interesting. I wonder if this type of streaming hasn't made it outside of the US yet. I really appreciate you pointing out this oversight and helping us realize that we were really centering an American perspective here. It's a shame how little is available to countries outside Japan, but I also recognize how privileged America is by having multiple services like this on top of Blu Ray / DVD distributors catering to asian film. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback. We've edited the title and description to reflect that this is American-based. That was an oversight on my (Eli's) part while doing the research for this video. Please let us know if you know of any services from other territories that offer free or ad-based streaming!
