Someone building a jeep how they want?! Unacceptable. I appreciate you being real about this project. Most of us just don't have the resources to do a 300k factory-resto-mod-conversion. It's nice just to watch someone build something they're happy with.

It looks good. And the nicest part about a beat up Jeep is it's less likely to get robbed/stolen 😅

I don’t understand some people executive a showroom restoration on the Jeep. It appears to me that you are creating a piece of art representing an artifact of the past and I think you are capturing that perfectly. Since the conversion to electric is a great idea as it doesn’t significantly change the appearance but gives a more dependable drive train while maintaining the appearance that a 50+ year old jeep should have. I can’t wait to see the final creation. Way to go!!!!

I felt a shiver run up my spine when you tossed those billets of aluminum in the bin. Then you saved the day by removing them and hiding them on a shelf somewhere. I "get it" with the look that you are going for, it is pretty cool. Do it your own way!

Jeremy, I agree 110% with how you rebuilt & finished the tub. I hope to do something similar to my now 78-years-old CJ-2A. When I bought it back in the mid-70s, I could already look through the holes in the floor & watch the road go by as I drove down the road. Now the floor is virtually completely gone and I'll try to replace it like you did on yours. I just hope that I can gather the wherewithal to build whatever I need to make the replacement parts rather than just buying "too-thin" stamped replacements. I *think* it was red like yours originally, but it turned OD shortly after I got it (too much Rat Patrol on TV when I was growing up I guess) -- now I'll have to decide what color to paint it when I get to that point!

My brother's old farm ute had been repainted with a roller before we salvaged it. It looked just perfect for its job, and stood up to years of abuse & neglect. I think your approach is perfect for this resto/e-mod.

I found your channel recently maybe a monthish or so.. and I'm afraid I'm going to run out of your videos to watch. I started watching because I'm into learning machining. I have an old 6" craftsman lathe. I've made a milling attachment for it that's still under development. I think one of the main reasons I watch your channel is you use what you have. Originally, I avoided the jeep saga videos but now I'm in it for the long haul. I also believe a lot of the things you do are things I would do. I would like to address some of the comments you've addressed like about the jeep blasphemy or whatever. I think the jeep is sick! But i would also watch you do the same to an old geo metro if that means anything. I imagine there are way more people like me than the others. I appreciate you making these videos. Thank you.

My approach was conservation not restoration. I love genuine patina. I see nothing wrong in protecting your hard work with a protective layer. Even if it looks too good. It kind of exaggerates the genuine bit. Plus, it will develop its own over time and it will be a recorded event in the history of the vehicle.

I've used a LOT of that Majik Paint, if its on a drill press or Milling machine you intend on keeping INDOORS it's excellent, but if it's going out in the sun it will be chalky and flat and look 100yrs old inside of 6 months in the FL sun, dont know how much Sun you get in your state?
@junkyardsearcher64077 ай бұрын
He added hardener to it, it should be fine I would think.
@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes7 ай бұрын
@@junkyardsearcher6407 Nope, I've use the Majik-brand hardener, as well as others, it looks and stays amazing INDOORS, but that paint has NO lasting in the sun, will be a flat chalky, PINK faded mess inside of 6 months (here in FL, his results maybe different depending on how much sun he gets there)
@junkyardsearcher64077 ай бұрын
@@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes that doesn’t give me hope on my paint… thanks for the info.
@JeremyMakesThings7 ай бұрын
That will either complete the look, or I’ll consider this a trial run and do it over with higher quality paint when I break it all down to do the inside and underside.
@junkyardsearcher64077 ай бұрын
@@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes have you used Rustoleum paint with hardener? With longer lasting results?
To everyone who says you should do more, if in the future you decide to make it a show car you still can. Its not like you cant ever take it back apart and make it perfect if you one day decide to. I know its not thr point of this Jeep, but IF you want to later you always can. I knew you werent going to trash the spacers, i wouldn't either.
@JeremyMakesThings7 ай бұрын
Exactly. I’ve tried to do everything the “right” way so it can be cleaned up later if I choose to do so.
@vandalsgarage4 ай бұрын
Throwing the spacers in the trash bin is clearly a joke. We all know Jeremy recycles EVERYTHING. I expect they'll be turned into some sort of work holding jig, or maybe a telescope.
