You've really brought the color wheel to life. Sure, you read about using color schemes but seeing the usage in action - especially at the end with the 4 examples, truly brings on that "Aha!" moment. Thank you!

Yep, this was huge for me. I'm self-taught and have struggled with this for years.

This is a great tutorial. What I found the most impacting area was after describing the colour schemes you then used them in thumbnail examples with a reference picture...WHAM! This gave the descriptions meaning. Thank you so much.

What medium are you using? Open acrylic? Your paint is staying moist so long, yet you’re rinsing your brush in water…. Great video. Thank you so much!

I really enjoyed this . Color theory is hard for me as i am very new at this and i don't do a lot. But the examples put it all together for me. Thank you very much.

Great video and v helpful! I wanted to know, what palette did you use for the acrylics? it looks like paper. I used thick paper as a use and throw palette but my colors dried v quickly on it. Your paints did not dry without a retarder (i'm guessing). please advice!

Very helpful indeed. One question I have: Is it possible to mix the colors of the scheme as well? If so then new colors will be produced which will negate the using of color scheme. Thanks anyway for your detailed explanation of how to use color scheme.
@elsagrace38936 жыл бұрын
Reza Hossein yes, he begins mixing the colors on the second demo. No, it does not negate the color scheme. Have you ever painted?

Why are blue, cyan, and magenta part an analogous color scheme? They are not directly next to each other.

Will this video be added to Art Tutor's website as a class? I have been a member since the beginning (dlWood), and I never saw this video before. If it is, where did John get that particular color wheel. I have seen many, but not one exactly like the one he uses here. I like how it shows the Hues, Tints, Tones and Shades. Great video!
@PhilDaviesArtist7 жыл бұрын
Yes, we'll add it to ArtTutor this week. It was created for our social media channels as it's shorter than our typical classes being just one 18min video... but it's worth having on the class list nonetheless. John created that colour wheel and you'll be able to download from the class materials on Monday

Just watched it again, just printed off the Color Wheel of the Galaxy, just am tickled pink! I am very excited because I printed it on my glossy photo paper and just happened to lay it down next to my Munsell color chart that I printed out of an M. Kessler book and from Handprint and caught my breath - OMG!!! John's color wheel and Munsell's (both styles) are spot on together! Yet John's shows me Hue and 3 steps of lightening and darkening which is a great help at a glance. Thanks!

elsa Grace I don’t see why you’d complain sarcastically 😂 Like...so what ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they’re just asking about the paints, I’m sure the paints used are Oil Paints.

I got it that the question was not so smart but it really had nothing to do with being American or anything else. I honestly think I was commenting on a different video and by mistake placed it here. Oh well.
