I did OCS in '90. The food was delicious! We used to have 4 minutes to eat and were only given spoons with which to eat. That was fine with me! One morning, I was soooo hungry, I piled nine glazed donuts on my plate. The guys sitting next to me were taking bets on whether or not I could cram down all those donuts in time. Well, I did and enjoyed my three glassfuls of milk afterward!

So I have about a year longer until I obtain my Bachelors degree then I plan on going through OCS. My question is, how hard is the schooling as in classes. I'm not too worried about the physical but is there anything that I should be really prepared for? Thank you very much!

Hi, genuine question, and I'm sorry if this has been explained before (I'm new to this channel). How are you able to film let alone have access to personal technology while at OCS? My boards are in a few days for Naval OCS (fingers crossed) and I was under the impression we were not allowed to have any technology, aside from watches or alarms clocks. Is it just a branch difference? Something else? Or is my research simply incorrect? Thanks in advance!

Hey kidthndr2! Had a few interesting question to ask you about joining ocs after college as a civilian (what I'm thinking about doing). As of right now, are you officially commissioned in the army, more specificly, did you have to sign your name on the dotted line before attending ocs, or do you sign after completion of ocs (if you make it). Second question is, If you fail during ocs, do you get rolled back into another class for a second go at it? what's the civilian process for failure? are you rejecting from EVER trying again? do you go back to being a civilian if failing or are you apart of the army and at their mercy now? There is a ton of mis-information out there! just want a solid answer for this deal breaker haha, definitely don't wanna get shafted into 11B enlisted when going in with the mindset of become an 12A officer haha. Keep up the good work and cheers from Texas!
@JohnSmith-hh3sl7 жыл бұрын
Shotgun Rumble when you go to MEPS and enlist you sign as an Officer Candidate
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
No I am not officially commission in the ARMY I wont do that untill I graduate from OCS. Thats actually a good question if you fail OCS you are kicked back into enlisting into the needs of the ARMY. Ive seen about 3 cycles come through here and I've seen about 5 people become needs of the ARMY so they might get shitty jobs. I'm not to sure on the procedure however I know that if you get injured for to long or you fail out of the ARMY you are forced to enlist regularly and not allowed to go back to being a civilian because you did sign a contract. Its not very common but its the truth.
@Ryan-rv5em6 жыл бұрын
Just to make sure, After you graduate college, you do have to go through Basic Training? And if you enlist to be an officer you don’t have to do time as an actual solider? Just want to clarify because I am really considering joining the Army after I’m done with school and would rather be an officer than a basic soldier. Thanks!

How would you compare the difficulty and the "lifestyle" of OCS with Army bootcamp? I went to Marines' bootcamp which means that I don't have to do bootcamp again, but taking into consideration that the Marines' bootcamp is harder than the Army bootcamp, how do you think I will find OCS in terms of difficulty, "lifestyle" and the way you are treated? Im currently enlisted in the Army as a E4 with a degree and I have already started filling out my OCS packet, The only thing im worried about going to OCS is failing in it. I absolutly suck at land Nav and i hear that if you can pass it within two trys then they kick you out . Is it true that they do the whole shark attack thing like back in basic too ? Thanks ! for the awesome video!
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Hey man, hmmmm let me put this in perspective for you. First good luck on your packet! When I was in ROTC in college before I had to drop , doing Land Nav I couldn't find anything. Like im talking you give me the direction to go and it be in a straight line and I still couldn't find that damn point. When I got here they fixed all my problems bro. Dont sweat it to much man. Yes you get three tries with your first company you come in with than if you dont get it. You recycle to the next company starting up and than you get 3 tries there than if you dont pass again which is lower than 3% chance you leave and can come back to OCS at a later time.

@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Infantry is very class dependent. You pick around the end of OCS probably like week 8 or 9 for most classes.
@Frostarrowsz7 жыл бұрын
Do you still get to pick or does the Army assign it to you based off your OML and performance?
@ryancampbell86596 жыл бұрын
Frostarrowsz if you are active, you select it based on the OML. If your #1 you’ll likely have the option of any branch. Depending on how many slots are allocated for each branch at that times (it changes every cycle), your oml spot is pretty important. If you are guard or reserve, you’ll sit down with your officer strength manager and look at the options available in your state (guard).

Well every event on the OML you are given 2 chances before you are given a recycle. Its built into the schedule. For example the History test was on a friday the makeup was on the next friday. Prior enlisted in ROTC here, man OCS sounds easier than AIT lol! Too easy! 0530 wake up? That’s sleeping in! I still wake up on my own at 0300 to go do PT till 0530 at University. The trick is to wake up 30 minutes prior to wake up to square your room away and conduct hygiene. You shouldn’t be scramming to get uniform ready, should have been done a day prior. 10 minutes to eat and no talking is too easy, don’t forget to bring the bowl to the food not the food to the bowl and heels together when you sit, because the food taste better with the heels together! Man, everything has been too easy and I encourage a lot of people to go prior enlisted before ROTC, 100% recommendation!
