Thanks Ryan for the new content. I have an 03’ 525iA in Alpine White. So far I have the BlueBus and it’s been working great. Right now the water-pump is being replaced, belts and pulleys. I had to replace the fuel pump a while back. I’ve learned so much on this channel and the website.

Have you ever experienced the OBD2 (inside car) not connecting. It has power but will not connect. Checked fuses and pulled out the OBD2 and the 4 wires are all pushed in. The round 20 pin OBD in the engine bay works. 1998 540i with 190,000. Thanks.

Hi Ryan, this is Chris from Maine. Great shop your video of the red-white-blue M5’s. I agree, that red/Carmel combination is awesome. I have a black/black 5 speed manual touring wagon and 03 530i auto. The 530 passenger door is locked. I think the actuator is bad however it is stuck closed. I know you did a video of a rear door. Any ideas to get to the intervals of the door to unlock it snd replace the actuator? I wish I lived near your shop. We recently moved to the Camden Maine area from Charlotte NC. Thanks for all of your detailed information and passion for the E39 chassis. Best regards.
@E39Source3 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, this is an unfortunate issue. I would firstly try to actuate the door locks with the center console button a few dozen times, in hopes that it will come back and unlock for you just one more time. If not, this door panel is going to take some damage. There's a screw in the vent area near the mirror that cannot be removed with the door shut. You can remove the interior door handle and get that free, but removing the panel will be difficult. Once you get inside the door, you'll want to manually unlock it just like I did on the rear door in that video.

Hi @e39source I was just wondering how hard it would be to convert my M5 standard audio to M audio. I know from DSP to M audio it is fairly simple but unfortunately I have standard😕. Thank you so much for the content you really have filled the void!!!!
@E39Source2 жыл бұрын
To fully convert the car to M-Audio speakers, you'd have to do significant wiring to and from all 4 doors, the rear parcel shelf, and the amp.

Glad your business is still healthy and still growing! Ive got a quick question, my M5 sat for about a year (been dailying the e30) and decided I wanted to take it for a spin in the coming week. So i replaced mostly all the fluids(excluding brake and tranny fluids) and a new Interstate battery (850CCA). And i noticed when locking and unlocking the car it does it a lot slower and sometimes the lock pin that suppose to pop out doesnt come in and out half the time. What are the possible failures? Thanks for reading!
@computiNATEor3 жыл бұрын
That's a bad or sticking door lock actuator. Replace it before it gets stuck and you have to break the door panel to get it out.
@E39Source3 жыл бұрын
The actuators are known to fail, especially with lengthy periods of inactivity. I would replace all 4 of them before they fail stuck shut and you have to destroy your door panels to remove them with the doors locked shut.
@ernestocastellanos64463 жыл бұрын
@@E39Source Okay Ill replace them! But what if I leave the rear seats down? Can I access the cabin through the trunk?
@michu67773 жыл бұрын
@@ernestocastellanos6446 Yes, the problem isn't that you will be completely locked out of the car when the lock actuators fail, the problem is that a door with a failed actuator won't open from either the outside or inside handle. You will have to destroy the door panel to replace the lock actuator if you wait until the door gets stuck.

I’ve watched most of these videos, but never caught how Ryan receive his mechanic skills? Was it just working on his own car starting when he was 16, or did he also go to school for auto mechanics? I do all my work on my Arizona garaged E39. But to tear into and rebuild a 4.4 I’d be way over my head. My search for a E38 has shown me that.
