Banking institution is a good one. All institutions cost the same bureaucracy per level, so it'd have to be a very significant mechanic. And there'd need to be multiple variants of the banking institution accessible at different points in the tech tree. (Centralized Banking IS a tech.) I don't know what variants there might be, but I do know some mechanics they could pull from: Increase % chance to create Obligation from Bankrolling. Modifier to interest rate. Bonus to all Private Investment Contributions scaling off gold reserves in the treasury (e.g. +100% at full reserves, +0% at exactly 0 debt). Discount on government construction cost (at the point when the £s are deducted from the treasury, so the materials producers' prices aren't directly affected). Modifier to Minting from GDP vs Gold. Political Strength modifiers for pop types.

Yes, I agree with much of what you say. Now we just need to find a modder to work with! :-)

It’s very good when paired with a modern day map mod but I usually turn it off when I’m trying to play an 1836 play through

I feel like this mod would pair great with a cold war/modern day mod

Victoria 3 has such a learning curve, but I’m starting to love it once I learn the deeper mechanics. Now I’m on your boat, where I wish the technology tree was more detailed and more gradual. However, I think that also creates greater learning curve which is a pickle as there’s not a large active player base so this game may die in the vine if it can’t attract new players.

And now we have the meta-game of what the official devs choose to provide and what is left to modders. Deeper and wider tech is probably something left to modders, for those who choose that kind of nuance in the game. Even something as simple as Quinine moving to level 3 makes for a vast improvement in historical experience, which points to the vast possibilities in the tech tree.

Tbh a greater leaning curve is exactly what makes many games great. So I don't think that the game will die, instead it needs to get even more realistic with each update

Will you consider revisiting this mod, now that SoI and patch 1.7 has been released?
@An_Economist_Plays4 ай бұрын
Not really, as it's still applying 20th century concepts in a 19th century world. I'm using the Political & Economic Changes mod for a truly excellent 19th century economic experience.

I just started using this mod, it’s a lot fun and another complete game

Glad that you enjoy it! Modding opens up so many options for everyone to enjoy things in different ways.

I'm not sure how you can appreciate Vic3 for it's accuracy as a 19th century economic model when pops don't keep savings nor own capital (instead spending every penny they earn as soon as they earn it), such that capitalists are modeled as just another worker type but with a higher standard of living. Without private capital investment there is no such thing capitalism, and the game becomes nothing more than a dynamic supply/demand spreadsheet.

The good news is that begins to change in 1.7 with absentee landlords and direct foreign investment.

@@An_Economist_Plays Haven't seen this dev diary since I gave up on the game long ago, but it looks like a big step in the right direction. We'll see.
