Nice one and glad you like the 500 😁 I went on a euro-trip on my Bullet 500 last year, and preparing for a new one, leaving at the beginning of may from France to Turkey, and then heading to the north (Finland, Sweden etc) Approximately 10,000km. Wish me luck 😅. I'll be posting weekly videos on my channel! Cheers from Normandy, France 🙃

wow this is great, I just susbcribed to your account, I m looking forward to look at your trip, I always looked after the Bullet 500 but never took the plunge. My XSR 700 is great and reliable but gosh the 500 Bullet is like a story from the past, though the price of it is high vs what you get. Cheers from France.

@@laurentvenet2758 I'd say the XSR and the bullet would fit nicely together 😃 Two different bikes with different riding styles. The bullet is about cruising in the back lanes at 80 to 100 KMPH. The low torque is fun. Try one, tu vas voir c'est addictif 😁

Thumbs up for your dislike of loud pipes! In so many other motorcycle videos the reviewers are always foolishly complaining that the stock pipes are too quiet, it's nice for once to see someone who doesn't like excessive noise.

I have a Thunderbird 500 in Matte Black which is the Meteor 350's predecessor and its factory exhaust is just perfect. It gets loud enough to get you giggling when you go high in the revs. It's a proper rumble and sounds unlike anything on the road. For some reason it sounds a little different from the classic, even though they have the same engine. The TB has a low, deep, thump at idle and low revs that no other bike offers anymore. It's a priceless possession for me and I can't imagine myself without it, quite honestly.

A nice bike and wonderful adventure. Did you try kickstarting the Enfield? We had a trip in Vietnam similar when we were riding down all these back roads, unsealed, potholed & tipping it down. It took forever to get to the waterfalls that were a tourist attraction. We found a highway to get home and only took about an hour. These trips will be great memories for you.

I never managed to kick start it because I stupidly had the clutch pulled in (I only understood my mistake the day after giving the bike back😳). I can completely imagine this, as I think it was only 30 miles as the crow flies from north to south of Bali for this trip😳

Well done Freddy, very enjoyable. I was in Bali in 82', we were advised to AVOID riding bikes due the CORAL used in road surfaces. They said you fall off and you get an injury which NEVER HEALS, like a bite from an Australian 'Blue Tongue' Lizard, Naturally we ignored the advice.

Wow! I hadn’t heard this about coral in the roads, but I am reading an incredible book about Bali in the 70s and 80s- it was veeeeery different back then (in a good way). This does sound like the level headed attitude to danger; politely nod at advice and carry on regardless😆

Can’t believe my eyes when you guys taking a village road and ends up in very narrow back alley, google maps are terrible finding the road to the destination when selecting motorbike as the primary vehicle, they also responsible to many lost drivers ending up in the corn/palm fields, get stuck in the ditch on a paddy field etc, mine was responsible for taking me to narrow alley only proper for a two traffic of motorcycle whilst driving the rental Suzuki Wagon R. As the vegetarian food, we had one of the best options such as tempe, tahu/tofu, gado-gado and pecel (Indonesian style salad with a peanut paste), gudeg (famous food from Yogyakarta), urap and sayur asem (sour soup) etc, you should try those in warungs near you, beware of the spicy one though.

Ear plugs, Freddie! For both you and Monika. You really can lose a lot of hearing very quickly, from a combo of the loud pipes and the wind noise. Studies show you can have hearing loss in less than one hour! So save those ears and use some kind of plugs. Foam plugs are cheap, and I have found that swimming ear plugs also work very well.

Very interesting to hear how the classic 350 compares to the original. Good set of panniers, too. For my travel luggage I use a pannier liner from my old E28 givi set. Fits perfectly for airline carry on luggage, and straight into the panniers of what we hire. Will be doing it again in Greece this year when we do some island hopping on a hired Honda. Safe happy travels 👍

That's some nice music in the background! Thank you. Now, About the seat... I don't get it! How is it comfortable for you beyond an hour? As much as it's lovely, those spring seats, for rides around town, they start punishing the lower back after an hour on the saddle. I took my friend's classic 500 desert storm for long (250 km One way) ride with breaks of course... . I was prepared for the vibrations etc.. That's part of the character. The saddle was the only issue i faced. It was terrible. I took a pillion for a 20 kms ride and the person hated it. So, i don't get you or your partner when you say you're happy with the saddle on classic 500, even after a long ride!! How??!!

I am on Koh Samui, Thailand. Been here 3 months. Leaving tomorrow. I am never going back to the tropics. Why: 1) Far to many people. 2) Extremely dangerous traffic driving a bike. Saw 2 dead people on the street. Accidents and ambulances non stop. Young Thai men drive with a deathwish. No rules are followed. 3) The humid heat. It is like living in a sauna. Being Swedish I dream of fresh air. 4) Air pollution due to people burning things. Mostly farmers I guess... Being here you need a scooter. Without it you are stuck and sweating like a pig. But...the more accidents i saw...the more depressed I got. Luckily I didn't see any injured children. But there must be horrible bike accidents with children...being in front of the adult driving the bike the children must...Well, think for yourself. I am staying in Europe in the future...

There are plenty of Muslims on Bali. During the Suharto regime a policy known as 'transmigrasi' was employed to uplift whole populations to spread Islamic domination across the islands. This and the associated genocide against Christians and Chinese made it a highly repressive regime, and despite the appearance of democracy now, means it still is.

Great video Freddie. Looks like you and Monika had a fantastic adventure. Shame you couldn't show us the steamed up clock on the bike and we couldn't hear how it was misfiring towards the end. Looking back at your previous video you said that the paint job was the worst ever. It looked like an immaculate matt black finished tank to me..... You also said the bike felt like it weighed a ton (or words to that effect). The weight difference between the Classic 500 and all new 350 is about 5kg...... Then there's the power difference. This isn't marginal. The Classic 500 has 30+% more torque and BHP than the all new 350. I have one of the final Classic 500's in Battle Green and I also own a brand new Himalayan. The fit and finish of the 500 is actually of a higher standard and I've heard plenty about negative chrome to paint edging issues on the All New 350............

I bought the Classic 350, December 2022 since when she's been a garage queen (heavy winter snow state). The low power option was a purposeful decision. Now the weather is in the 70s. I had it out only twice, for inspection sticker duty. And yes, a 'comfortable' bike. I hate to imagine the 500, if she's a less comfortable precursor! Kudos on this mammoth road trip. I wouldn't want that traveling chore in a car, much less a bike. Also those 4:34 false negatives (*neautrals*) must suck! lol

I agree with you on loud pipes Freddie. 10/10 for stating this. I have a Bullet 500 and Harley...I am finding that the Bullet 500 is my first choice more and more! Love the channel!

Useful panniers. I don't like very noisy pipes or overly quiet ones. Tricky alley with the drop into the water to the left. You think you've got a problem being a vegetarian. I am allergic to hen eggs. It makes eating out a right pain. 16:59 Nice dash. Looks quite dangerous in the dark. Good day out. Very good video.

Hi Freddie Been a subscriber for a while now and really enjoy your motorcycle adventures with Monica who does an excellent job of cataloging all you both do. I picked up a Battle Green Classic 500 last year and it’s been customised into a kind of scrambler/bobber. It looks like some long forgotten WW2 military scrambler. Very Steve McQueen and I love it. Your welcome to take it out anytime. Beautiful bikes and I’ll never part with mine. Watching your bike adventures has made me change the way I think about biking in general. I’ve gone from tracking Fireblade’s and am now focusing more on the classic cruising style of riding together with my Mrs who enjoys days out on the pillion as much as I do riding. Really like the way you tow the triumph behind the Fiat and made me also realise why bother with miles of mind numbing motorway riding just to get to destination, just tow the bike behind the car and then let the real adventure begin. Was wondering if you’ve ever considered taking the Rocket 3 for a test ride? I’m seriously thinking of adding one to the stable along with my other bikes. Would love to see your review of the beast just with some two-up sedate cruising. Be well the both of you and ride safe.

Freddy eats a packet of noodles, and a fried egg, nothing special, just cheap supermarket noodles, from a packet. Well I hope it gave you enough nutrition for that ride back.

Well Freddie you are truly the king of the road in Bali. That little 500 looks like a full touring Harley on those unbelievably narrow roads. Riding in the dark, in the fog, and rain on unfamiliar roads with never ending traffic. Ya that proves it. But it’s queen Monica who was smart enough to bring the rain costs . So out of everything you’ve rented so far, is the RE your favorite? Or the Kaw

There are some drivers in the road who do not look first before turning their vehicles.. thats why I prefer installing a loud pipe on my bike.. but it pisses of neighbors and muffles my hearing after hours of riding.. thats why I also wear earplugs

The missing a few beats is water getting into the electrical plugs and spark plug lead connecting to the coil. My previous bike was a classic 500 and each time it got wet I had spray WD-40 on the electrical plugs around the engine or the engine would misfire.

Nightmare. Poor Monica! Those tiny pathways with the little waterway next to them looked horrible, one slip and you and bike end up in the ditch. Wasn't even really worth it when you got there. Might be an idea to learn the phrase for "I don't eat meat." Hope your next few outings are a bit more fun, that was more like an endurance test!

Sod it !! i'm going back to a 500 , i have a meteor 350 which i've had from new (2022 ) but i miss the torque of the 500 and the sprung seat sooo comfy . It's a commuter over 6000 miles done in the first year so not a fair weather machine , pity it will only be 2nd hand if i can find the right one !

The footage was indeed worth watching and entertaining as well as informative. I've been riding over 50 years and my own opinion is loud pipes probably don't save lives as well as loud colors and a good loud horn.
