In regards to the world of Cantha, I and many other are in fact complete neewbies - so I am much looking forward to continued focus on the lore. Also really enjoyed the primer video. :D

I'd rather you tell me 100 things I already know than you assume I know various things and skip over the one thing I didn't. I always train people at work with that mindset. And these videos strike me as training/refreshing. Keep up the great work

One of the reasons I watch every video you do is because you make them like the watcher doesnt know the story at all. I know a great deal about the lore from being a long time player, however, you never fail to give information I didnt know or phrase facts i did know in a way that makes me look at it differently/more closely. I can also safely send your videos to friends when they ask about something knowing i dont have to give a long prologue just so they wont be confused or have to answer a million questions afterwards and instead jump straight to speculation and theorizing. xD

I'm not exactly what it was lore-wise, if a second profession came with Ascension, but mechanically us players got it immediately, and in fact it had to be chosen before you could progress out of tutorial areas. In order to be able to change the second profession, however, you had to go through Ascension, Weh-No-Su, or establishing the Sunspear hideout.

This was BY FAR the expansion of Guild Wars I played the most and so I'm incredibly excited to return and explore this world again. Thank you for filling me in (per usual) on all the lore I might've or did miss. Thanks WP!

I played guild wars 1 back in the day, but I never dove too much into the lore. I'm definitely excited to see Cantha in the GW2 engine.

In response to what audience: I played Guild Wars 1 since the beginning and now sporadic for nostalgia, I tried playing GW2 but it didn't have the same feel for me allthough like you I LOVE the universe, that is why I love watching your videos about the lore and when you go back to GW1. This Canthan expansion has me thinking about starting to play GW2.. Anyway like I said I really love your videos, your enthusiasm, the depth that you go and the quality you bring so thank you! Atm I'm rewatching your Prophecies Solo Lets play haha. Cheers

Most of Cantha's coast, Shing Jea, Keineng city and its sewers are most likely underwater by now (like the old LA, and Droknar's forge)... so we'll probably get into a brand new Cantha… except if it been raised up as Kamadan been. Echovald forest, even if turn back into wood, will be magnificent and very different from Maguumba jungle. The Kurzicks had huge Tolkien-elvish'like cathedrals and fortifications built in the trees... mixed with huge stone gothic buildings on the ground. Every Echovald trees was colossal… unlike Maguumba's wild jungle. Luxons built mines and cities under the Jade sea, along with villages on the Jade sea's archipelagos. So it is to expect A LOT of under/over water gaming (same as the under-exploited sunken Orr had… but unlike Orr, we already walked on the Luxon's roads and visited their cities before being flooded)… fighting saltspray dragons, kraits, pirates, giant crabs and Zhu hanuku. The potential of gameplay is gigantic and can't be compare to both previous expansions… even combined.

We also have to consider that the Kurzicks and Luxons may not be there. In the movement of the world we hear about the empire of the dragon conquering them and uniting them under their kingdom.

I'd love to see more on Mhenlo and Togo. Togo's bonus mission pack mission was so memorable to me, going through that mountain top estate all those tengu, and his elite skill you powered up was dragon related. Its really hard to figure out who gets a Revenant legend here...the theming is just too good for Togo. I like the idea that multiple classes will get a spin off of the revenant - guards going down the spirit weapon route. We could do a dual revenant legends where you do a balance between Archemorous and St Viktor?

I want to learn more about Chang Hai and the whole process of becoming Weh no Su. I never properly realised it happened in 1 AE and I think it's no coincidence that in-game it's basically the same as Ascension, even if in lore, it appears like it has nothing to do with the human gods. I wonder then whether Anet will go into detail about this and perhaps tie it to the Elder Dragons as well. I'd be greatful if they cleared up the inconsistencies with afterlife at least.

I can see the forest still having petrified trees with "new growth" (if 250 years can be called "new") but the jade sea is all going to be water. as for why there are still blocks of jade in the priory, they were probably taken before the "curse" was lifted therefore still "cursed"
@bre_me4 жыл бұрын
Why would the jade melt into water... stone being eventually ground into dust and therefore soil makes sense... jade into water doesn't
@PavelThorsonos4 жыл бұрын
The second profession absolutely did not wait until after ascension. You got it (and could try out all of them one after the other, sort of) in pre-searing! He probably just got described with two classes to make clear the emperors are on a level with player characters, hero-level wise?
@Draconicrose4 жыл бұрын
i kinda hope those creatures really are sylvari related and that we see a new tree. Also, a living forest growing over/around a stone forest would look so cool!
@Kirosu954 жыл бұрын
Multiclassing? Now that would be a crazy thing, and certainly an expansion level concept. Probably something like only being able to take a single trait line from another class, but still. Fun to think about what kind of crazy combos you can do. For Gw2 anyway.

These Kurzicks singing through the forests or the halls, with songs that seem to empower allies reminds me of what we saw with the Zephyrites and Glint. In particular their Labyrinthine cliffs song and also Thunderhead peaks where it empowers Aurene. Theres lots of theming around songs in this game, especially when youve got the dragons blood spears. Chants and spears two themes of the Paragon. Perhaps even connections to the Spear of archemorous too (though thats more luxon connection)? Random little connections of consistency in the franchise. Kurzick tree dwellers could have been similar to the zephyrite. Perhaps they followed another being similar to glint? Perhaps they latched on to the saltspray dragon...could even go down that Mallyck and a potential other pale tree / they are somewhat similar to sylvari

- AAAAAAAAAARGH as a salad main I would LOVE if we had some salad story here too, though I feel like the rest of the community would be like "shit, here we go again" lol - I would love it even if it was just a side quest or some mentioning or a few NPCs or whatever. - I'd reckon having the forest with ruins would be really cool aesthetically speaking as well, but I'd love for at least a big chunk of it being intact and/or evolved from what it is/was in gw1. - I only know Naga from outside gw1, but I hope we'll get to meet them or do something with them! - If we still get to meet heroes from the past, I would hope Norn being like "OH YOU CAN MEET LEGENDS OF THE PAST???" *grabby hands* Also, as a rev main, I do hope they'll do something with the legendssss! - Well, there's tons of buildings (irl), even fairly recent ones, that never got to be seen by their architects or those who laid the foundation. I always love seeing buildings where there's an amalgamation of styles due to them taking not just decades, but centuries to finish. - You can watch the trailer *TO SEE THIS MAN DIE*. This should not have made me laugh, but it sounds like a TV ad or sth where you're like: For optimum understanding watch the thingie xD - I kinda want ppl to react to revenants who use Shiro stance. Like "WAIT, HE'S BACK???" "NOT THE JADE WINDS AGAIN" and so on lol Looking forward to the next one :D

by the shape of the Cantha continent (which you can find in wikis) the Gw1 Cantha map is only the tip of the whole continent. the whole land is pretty much as big as the currently opened Kryta + Elona area, so enough space for tons of maps and content :D. www.deviantart.com/kxmode/art/Tyria-World-Enhanced-Map-501269469

Minor correction on sylvari lore since you forget here. Sylvari are cleansed/semi-cleansed dragon minions of mordemoth (how and by who cleansed isnt clear (maybe forgotten on their way to build tarir?)). Keep that in mind when talking about warden. That said it dont deny conection between them and add interesting factor to urgoz. Did jade wind force us to kill plant-glint? Or did we killed herald of mordi in gw1? Of topic as seen on great destroyer killing herald affect when elder dragon wakes up, what about when sort of herald defect as in case of glint? Do you count scarlet as herald of mordi or is it crazy?

As someone who lived in China for a year Pre virus, The political standpoint of Cantha after listening to these last two videos seems to be the reason they probably have not reexplored this Land in-game yet. They probebly diddnt want to revisit the tabu subject matter and knew fans would be upset if they did not. Now that the game did not do well in China however, they may go all out. I personally hope they turn the story allot, making it a more peaceful less tyrannical / plague-ridden land. I don't think that would fare well with the current times.

Hey wp, man do you remember guild wars 1? Like how great that game was compared to guild wars 2? Even now I’m having nestalga from it. Like... I just frankly miss it compared to guild wars 2.. I’ve never been a fan.. but I played it because of guild wars 1... I was actually looking forward to guild wars 3 more than a expansion but new elite specs will bring in the reason why I love guild wars soo much.. skill selection.. though this is just a temporary fun... I’m really looking forward to some developer out there to make mechanics close to guild wars 1. At least giving me the skill selection to be anything I want to be instead of oh your a warrior here is set skills.

Minor correction about vizu. She wasnt really great hero, she was opurtunist and she was lucky, and young beginer and certanly far from being greatess assasin of her time.
