One thing I've learned through the Cabal FB page is that because there are ALWAYS new people getting into Mythics, excuse me, LEGIONS figures that videos like this for beginners are rarely redundant. Especially when there's so much information out there, it can be hard to find the answers to some basic questions that all you can do is ask even if it's been answered a thousand times before (as annoying as it can be to some). Videos like this are invaluable and help our growing action figure community. The only thing I would add is, when it comes to dry brushing, I have found that cheap makeup brushes (don't judge me) work phenomenally well. I bought a cheap pack from Amazon for about 5 bucks and it came with 6 or 7 different brushes. It has taken my dry brushing to the next level. Great video Jeremy.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I get LOTS of questions on stuff like this from new fans and customizers, so even though the topics have been covered in the past (by me in some cases), I agree it is good to repeat them from time to time so that the answers seem more current and fans can find them!

No need for paint thinners or sealers when starting out?
@MythicCustoms3 жыл бұрын
I never use paint thinner. Water works fine if you need to thin these paints. I do use sealer, and I cover that in other videos - but when starting out, I don't think it is necessary. I only started sealing figures once I started selling some. It was years before I ever did that, so I don't think it is strictly necessary up front!

Do you dry brush the skin if it is a naked body, after painting and applying wash? Or what other method do you use to hilight the skin? Thank you for the tips, just got into mythic

It depends. Sometimes I do dry brush skin tones so I can build the color up the way I want, but for nice smooth tones on skin I normally water down the paint so it is the consistency of milk and I apply a number of thin coats, allowing it to dry between applications. This gets messy, and the paint will bleed onto parts next to the skin (like hair and beards), so those areas will need to be fixed after, but this approach is the way I have found to best achieve nice smooth skin tones for flesh.
