Geez, you made it further as a fan than I did LOL. I kinda stopped supporting him not long after the email video came out. In that video, he said specifically that the only emails he wanted were fan-art related things. I had written a fanfic of YandereSim and decided to take the chance and email it to him as he stated he was okay with receiving those emails. It was my first time putting my work out there. I honestly did not expect him to read it or respond, I was just proud of myself for sending it in the first place, even if it did end up in a junk folder. *He sent me an email in response telling me how he didn't have time to waste reading my piece if I wanted the game done.* Initially, I was heart-broken. I felt like I had wasted everyone's time by doing it, even though I'm one of those people who consider fanfic as a form of fan-art (English Lit major, written work is a form of art, just as music is a form of art). Afterwards, I was angry. If me sending an email that was clearly listed as "fanfic" was somehow wasting his time, why bother responding to me? Delete it and move on! He wasted more time by responding to me than he would've by clicking three buttons: One to select the email, one to delete, one to confirm deletion. Now? I frankly don't care lol. I posted the fanfic on Ao3 after a couple people requested me to, though it's just a one-off that I'm never updating as I'm no longer a fan. I don't let one man's opinion concern me and simply just enjoy watching him burn in the public's eye. Guess that makes me a Gremlin too lol

Holy crap, that's terrible!!! I can't imagine being in that situation. I'd be utterly heartbroken. Honestly, Alex treats his fans so badly, as you said, it would be much faster for him to ignore or just delete it but he really went out of his way to push you down. He truly has a problem. Honestly, gremlins rule and yandev drools.

@@callimara Pretty much lol. Gremlin and proud. Yeah, it was tough at the time because I'm an amateur writer and it was the first time I put anything out there. I've wanted to be a professional writer since I was 12. Now, I'm 25, I have one novella that I'm not really proud of that I self-published, I have the YandereSim fanfic that just kinda exists posted on Ao3, I have a fully finished Miraculous Ladybug fanfic that I'm super proud of posted on Ao3, and I'm working on an Undertale fanfic that I'm posting onto Ao3 that I'm currently really happy with :) So even if he tried to push me down, intentional or not, he failed.

You know, your mention of Toby Fox reminded me of something I realized some months ago: Undertale began development, was released, became popular... all on a fraction of yan sim’s development. There was even an undertale easter egg in a mid-early part of the game too! And Toby’s even working on Deltarune’s chapter 2 with his team right now, which puts into perspective on just how long yandere simulator is taking to be finished I’m just sighing at this point

Their games may *look* simpler than Yandere Simulator, but the reality is that, at least in the case of Toby, he worked on his own. Completely. As in, not even a single soul touched the game outside of art. Not to mention, there's also Bright Memory, which is also made by one guy and *fucking look at it, holy shit*. Bright Memory is like the shining example of what one guy can do if they're dedicated and actually work rather than siphon money from gullible fans. And don't even get me started on Cuphead.

The artist who draws the yansim official portraits has been caught tracing MANY times, but denies it and blocks anyone who points it out. There's evidence for that stuff online - this next stuff is just gossip but according to some of my art friends who used to be volunteers, the main artist and yandev have this really weird relationship? He hates her art but she was the only volunteer who stayed on as everyone else saw his bullshit and left eventually. Apparently he wanted Sozomaika to do all the art bc she has an artstyle similar to persona, but he didn't credit her so she left. So he's super reluctant to have mulberry (the main artist) on board. She's stayed on tho, bc she sort of like.. gets off on his abuse? Like, she thinks of it as a harly-quinn & joker relationship apparently, she really has the hots for him. This is all stuff I heard from an ex volunteer though ^^" yeah, don't trust that artist

I think what really angered me was that he kept on bringing up the Crowdfunding Campaign and his Patreon. He used to make over 5000k a month in Patreon, so he could’ve been using that money for the game and to *pay his volunteers* He keeps on making excuses for his actions and puts *every* controversy he’s been in on his debunk page and continuously lies to his fans. And when his fans ask about the controversies and critiques of the game that are less than praise, they either get deleted or banned by him or his moderators. His fans are so blind and manipulated, they don’t see the all the problems he caused. Love Letter and WNM were physical proof that people were sick and tired of waiting for his game. Like Kappa said if it ever gets released, it’s going to be torn apart and end up as a failure.

A game that I was excited to see come into fruition became a sloppily coded mess of jargon and stolen assets. As his behavior towards others came to light, I became disgusted with his actions and stopped watching him COMPLETELY after the DID incident. I only saw his new videos that came out a few days ago. And as neat as his ideas for the game are, all he's doing is adding more things to a game that can barely run 40 fps. Simply put, if you still support YanDev, I can't stop you but just be wary of how much money you're giving him. Maybe I'm the only one, but I've been neutral about the Yandere Dev situation since Day 1. It's not as much that I condone his actions as much as I don't know how to respond to them. I think the biggest fault for Yandere Dev is jumping into this game with ignorance of the responsibility that comes with it. It reminded me of when I first worked at my first job. I was excited, but the responsibility put my stress level to the max to the point that it effected my mental health. I did things that I am very embarrassed of to this day lol. Luckily, I did gain support and learned to balance my responsibilties with personal projects that had little to do with work. In the case of Yandere Dev, I believe this backlash is exactly what he needs. It's clear he hasn't learned to balance responsibility and fun. He acts like he's still in the stage of being a young adult where you leave childhood and experience adulthood. Sometimes, you do need a good punch in the gut to improve and build character. Of course, you and everyone else are allowed to disagree with me. Honestly, I am encouraging it, because that is the kind of harshness Yandere Dev needs.
@callimara
@callimara 3 жыл бұрын
I actually strongly agree with this. I think he genuinely needs a good reailty check to make him realise that he can't just have his cake and eat it too. That being an actual human adult with a job comes with certain expectations. I feel like the sooner he realises that he can't turn to his online audience to seek validation, comfort and reassurances, the better.

I think a big part of the issue is that I belive most people follow yandere simulator through KZbin via the official channel and others whom regularly play it. Even if you visit the reddit, thats sensored so you have to go looking for the issues of yandere simulator and the production or simply stumble upon it, say through one of the unofficial yandere simulator sub reddit or via KZbin recommending a commentary video upon the development such as the ones mentioned in this video. Yansim basically plagiarizes other games while the characters and storyline in DDLC was inspired by Katawa Shoujo and "you and me and her" respectively but was twisted in a way so that it could become it's own thing instead of a shameless rehash of Hitman, Persona and Danganronpa.

On that same note of games that we've been following and are absolutely amazing and better than YanSim, there was a My Little Pony fangame I followed that was called Fighting Is Magic. When the game went to (I don't remember the year)'s EVO and they were the ones who raised the most money for charity a few weeks before the final release, Hasbro got SO MAD, they C&D'ted it. I stopped following and was all sad, but on the meantime... They made an entirely new game out of spite with the help of the creator and designer of the MLP characters, with lore and all. It's so good it was going to EVO Online 2020 before they canceled it, you know why. But the power of spite made the game so good it has a fanbase of its own and it deserves it: they have better netcode than Smash Bros, not one but two models of pixel lobby, Skullgirls Devs lend them their engine, 1.0. came out in April last year with a whole chapter of story mode, etc. Point 1: The power of spite can fuel anything. Point 2: They've been way more successful in less years than YanSim has ever been in its whole time of development. Point 3: Yes, I did make this comment just to info dump because I love that game so much and it deserves so much more praise than it gets because everyone AUTOMATICALLY assumes it's an MLP game even though literally the only thing they have in common is the designer, artstyle and character inspo.

Great vid, just a heads up about the "copying ideas" thing. As someone graduated in game development, I can say that there is nothing wrong with that, i'ts totally normal to pick an idea of another game and implement it on yours (like the calendar thing). We are even recomended to nnot try to reinvent the weel every time, cause that can go south pretty fast, and see if someone already have a solution to the problem you're strugling in your development. You can see elements taken form past games in almoust every game: the first resident Evil picket the camera and seting from Alone in the Dark, Bayonetta and God of War have highlly DMC inpired combat sistems, and almoust every 2D fighting game picks a LOT of stuff from Street Fighter 1 and 2. A lot of the times the game being "it's own thing" is being a blend of a bunch of ideas from diferent games.

They all seem like genuinely nice people and I didn't want to leave them behind just because of how horrible Alex was, as the voice actors are small and if they do know about Alex I can understand why they still work with him as they need money. The people I met along the journey was honestly the only reason I stayed apart of it for so long

Judging by how many people are interested in being a part of this project, it would be an awesome (well, if you like this kind of games/content) and super successful open source project. It would be finished much faster... And free and open source doesn't mean you cannot earn money from it, either.

I got into Yandere Sim when I was a decently young kid, back in elementary school. I remember people thinking poorly of him because of hoow rude he was to his fans. I didn't really care, as I just took it as a personality he put on to be entertaining. I kind of stopped paying attention to it after the 6th grade, aside from occasionally watching kubz scouts videos. I guess I just got bored of it. I'm in high school now, and I haven't even thought about the game in years. But I still kind of hoped that maybe the drama around him was just over-exaggerated for the sake of having something to talk about. Really, I was just being naive because I really liked the game when I was little and spent a lot of time watching videos about and for it. Hearing that he was so disrespectful to people with mental disorders was the last straw for me. I myself am nerodivergent, and I have friends who have DID. But even if I didn't have friends with it I'd still know that what he was doing was wrong. Like, that's seriously fucked. (Also, very off topic, but every time I hear the first part of the music you use in your background I always think I'm about to hear Verbatim by Mother Mother. It's really cool!)

I am not somebody that is easy to anger. But *this man.* Each time I click on another video about him, I find more reasons to dislike him. I was an immense fan of this game, and still cannot find it in myself to let it go. This game is nostalgic to me. I was a fan when I was 10, for Christ's sake. Still, I watch Jay's videos on Yandere Simulator, and I have a lot of ideas for characters or scenes that base around the game. This game bases arund a concept that could be pretty damn interesting. The game had a lot of potential, and it really is a shame that the game had to be slandered by being a product of its creator. Sure, a couple of easter eggs between major updates would be fine; appreciated, even. But when you are holding off development of *major* plot points to put in a woah funny sans undertale man, you need to consider your choices. If only I had the ability to code a game, to figure this stuff out. I wish that this game was made by someone who actually cared about the end product. Someone who cared about their fans, and maybe, just maybe, didn't make an intentionally annoying character based on his fans, which he *murdered* in his videos. If only. However, this is the fate of the game, sadly. So thank you, Alex. Thank you for the joy you brought my childhood. Thank you for the time I spent drawing fanart of your game with my younger brother. Thank you for sparking creativity in my 10-year-old brain. And thank you for the pain I felt when I slowly realised how much of an asshole you are. Thank you, Alex.

I've got to admit, I really like the idea of Yandere Simulator, but Yandere Dev kind of made me loose a little interest. He kept on making excuses to why Osana was getting delayed. He said how he needed help making the game. Then I heard people complaining about how he gave them a lot of work and little payment, then they quit. Really nothing gets done. Lots of his videos talking about game development summarize to "I did this, but the next part of it will be done soon." And it never gets done(;´д`)ゞ No wonder the games estimated time is around 2022. OK, I'm not typing anymore, I just wanted to put my thought out there about the situation.

As a former fan, I was really interested in what he described as a "complex stealth assassination and cute high school love simulator." It seemed like it would be super in depth and complex and overall fun with many routes and endings. Even though I was getting antsy with the first rival to come out I didn't care much for the hate, but I'd always get annoyed with all the unnecessary videos he would make and how he would blame people that would volunteer rather than hire people. But then he would gaslight and manipulate his fans using his depression as a weapon and at the time as a young fan, it was crushing...until the hate and shame video. Like others, I was offended and hurt and even as a young teenager I knew it was unprofessional. Then I watched every video that came up about him and even more so realized how scummy he was. It's a shame I would have been interested in this game, I do like the concept, but I won't play because of some aspects and because of the creator.

Why not use already Osana istead? Litterally Kokona now is pointless, her task dose't have importance to the game and all the scripted events and the animation are now usless. I used to be a fan too, and I genuinely thought this was favorite game of all time. Now I actually look at games, their developers, and how good they actually are before becoming a fan. There's a game I play that is still in development, and it's gotten relatively far in development. I can't find the exact date it started development, but I don't believe it has been in development for longer than two years. It has much more complex functions in it, such as NPC aging and generations. One of the main reasons why they have gotten this far is because they actually have a small but stable company of sorts(7 people), and not one person who refuses to work with others. The game also has a friendly community and actually takes criticism. I personally can't understand why YandereDev can't find it in himself to at least recruit ONE person to help him, and not as a volunteer. Off topic, but how do you change the color of lineart?

Seeing the response reminds me of one of Ayano's excuses for when she's caught with psychotic behaviour. A lot. He completely brushed off my suggestion, proving a lot about him. I told him my personal issue for Amai, because with her owning a bakery and a cooking club, I expect her to be chubby to fit that role, but of course girl is as skinny as every single girl in that dumb game. I don't like how he's always talking about crowdfunding. I stopped supporting him along time ago, seeing how problematic and toxic he is. The development and coding is very very weak, causing it to run very low quality even on high end pcs. It could have been such a great concept but it turned down a dark path which is sad to see but it was coming. I wish he would've done more research with this game because a lot of concepts are wrong and the fact that he insults and threatens other people is disgusting. He's always trying to act like the victim and it's strange how much he is streaming and posting so much on his KZbin nowadays. I don't know why he needs that money when he's spending it on disgusting things and games. He could've had so much progress yet he hasn't gotten much done. There is a game called OMORI by OMOCAT that was in development for years and it's a wayyyy better game than Yandere simulator. I honestly think that he isn't going to change, he's stuck in that toxic mindset. Thank you for discussing this.

its pretty obvious that his crowdfunding campaign is going to fail. most of his fanbase consists of young children, usually in the gachalife community since yandere simulator is a popular thing to make stories and videos on due to the appeal that a cute psycho girl in a school has on little kids' imaginations. very few adults back him because they're mature and experienced enough to tell that yandere simulator won't end up being a game worth their money. so unless his very young fanbase all collectively steal their parents' credit cards, it's pretty much doomed for failure.
