@@vickypedia1308 I actually went to a therapist before. To the same one, both online and in person. i have always thought yandev was autistic. i am also autistic, and my groomer was autistic. while, obviously, being autistic does not make you groom people and obviously is not an excuse for anything he has done, its weird that some ppl are acting like its absolutely impossible for it to happen, especially as an autistic person who was groomed by an autistic adult man the same age as alex, and honestly, acted scarily similar to alex. anyone can be a groomer regardless of anything about them. again, him using it as an excuse is still bullshit.
@purrchouli Жыл бұрын
in fact despite me being autistic MYSELF, for years, my groomer being autistic was one of the reasons I kept denying to myself that I was ever groomed. I kept trying to convince myself that I was just being too emotional because he couldn't have possibly done any of that on purpose because he was also autistic and I couldn't understand how he could have done that if I would never do something like that. unfortunately I only kept learning about worse shit he did with other victims (literally illegal stuff) which finally got me to realize that truthfully nothing else about a person matters when it comes to them being a predator.
@NightmierSan Жыл бұрын
@peyton-3287 Honestly, it's not *impossible* that YanDev is autistic or not, it's the fact that he uses it as an excuse for why he did what he did. Saying this as an autistic (and a grooming victim) myself, when a bad person brings a disorder or illness into their "reason" for their actions, it puts a bad look on everybody else who may have that disorder or illness. When lawyers try to use the insanity plea or say things like "oh they didn't know what they were doing because they have [X]" it makes that community look bad. “My demographic is made up of mostly adults!” You wanna know how I KNOW that’s bs? When the game was at its peak I was around 13-14 years old and all my friends (other 13-14 yos) WERE WATCHING HIS VIDEOS. In the comments of his videos?? CHILDREN I didn’t know any adults who knew of YanSim until I BECAME an adult
@mothmansgramps Жыл бұрын
I know it is bs because I and friends of me only watched those videos when we where around 10/11 and aged out of it while still being kids, but just a little older kids, because he himself is so immature and that reflects in his game
@whatzittooyah9182 Жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. Adults at the time were repulsed by the game and by him, bc of its creepy mechanics and his immature behavior. After the initial hype for the game after big KZbinrs played it, adults saw YanDev for the weirdo he is and noped out. But unfortunately children do not catch on to those red flags, so they continued to follow his content.

Not only is the way he split the demographics suspicious (e.g., putting minors and legal adults in the same category), but he just ignores the idea that kids can lie. This is like a porn site denying that children have ever accessed its content because of the '18+' question at the site's entry point.

I'm autistic, upon hearing his bullshit about being 'undiagnosed autistic', I actually had to pause the video. I stimmed like hell, and made an angry sound likening to a steaming kettle. I literally have trauma around this kind of stuff, and him demonizing a community of people (I would bet any amount of money he isn't a part of) to get away with grooming young girls is disgusting. And what makes it worse, is that I reacted more to that stupid claim than the grooming, because that shocked me whereas the grooming was just expected behaviour from him.

Point on the ID thing: You can just not allow people to enter if they don't agree to show a picture of themselves holding it (showing it is both them and up to date). If someone goes so far as to fake one then you have a different problem. Keep logs or some way to prove this has been done for verified users. (As far as the adult-only servers I've been aware of go, this is fairly common.)

Yandere dev doesn't have austim, he's just using that lie as an excuse to avoid the consequences of his actions and to criminalise the people who actually have that and what's sad is that when people believe in those types of lies they will not only stereotype those people but also harm them which will mess them up real badly to the point where they too might start to do the same thing to others.

"You can't demand people's IDs" No, you can. That is 100% something you can do- make sure they block out everything that isn't the picture, your face to compare, name and DOB sure, but you can 100% ask for proof of ID. If people don't want to do that then hey, don't let them join your, a confirmed groomers, server I guess. Edit: Wanted to clarify this a lil better because I'm not blaming people wanting to join the server (although 'why would you want to?', honestly) but blaming the man and the mods that are pretending they can't be better.
@tardigradeColonies Жыл бұрын
Seconding this as someone who helps run a Discord server with adult-only spaces. You absolutely can ask for IDs. It might seem a bit awkward and personal at first but overall it makes everyone of all ages feel much more comfortable and safe because while it's possible to fake IDs it's a lot more effort to do that, and you KNOW with vastly more certainty that who you're talking to in an adult-only space is a fellow adult, and so on. The yes/no 18+ self-verification is basically just an ineffective CYA legal measure at best and fuel for victim-blaming at worst, because we all know that if/when people like YandereDev start their bullshit again, they can claim that the minor faked their age; it is simply not a real solution.
@flarestorm9417 Жыл бұрын
And with that said, if you're worried about verifying people's ages for an adult space on Discord or something, maybe just don't create such a space? Sure, you want to cultivate a community around your game for promotion reasons, but maybe keep the community at an arm's length if that's such a big concern? Just stick to community updates and less direct forms of communication at that point.

one thing i'd like to say is even the youtube analytics on ages are inaccurate sometimes. there are definitely kids younger than 13 on youtube that use their PARENT'S age instead of their own, or just make up an age, so that they'll be allowed on. i only found out about a year ago that that was the case with my account since i've been watching youtube since i was literally 3 (restricted mode on) and i hated youtube kids because i couldn't watch game playthroughs. i'm over 13 now, but before i was, youtube would've said i was ~50 because my birthday was set to my dad's. i don't think many people realize how often kids lie about their age, if i ever had to sign up for something before i turned 13 i would just set my birthday to 10 years earlier. it's really fucking easy to do, and 9 year olds (at least, me as a 9 year old) can figure it out no problem.
@raiinefall Жыл бұрын
I agree with this. When I was a minor I lied about my age constantly because I thought I was "mature enough " to go into adult spaces-
@vibrantgleam Жыл бұрын
The fact it is so easy to lie about your age and get exposed to potentially innapropriate content for kids is sad to me in a way. YanDev is only like 00000000000000000000.1%, maybe even more than that bc the internet is so damn big, of the internet's problems. "PROTECT THE KIDS!!!" Yeah if we wanted to protect children I don't think it would be easy to find inappropriate stuff, have predators groom kids, and be able to lie about our ages. And it's not even the kid's fault at all. It's the adults that influence these young and impressionable children.

Therapy is only helpful to people who are truly honest to their therapist/s. I had to get get therapy myself, but due to being in an abusive relationship with an ex girlfriend I probably should have broken up with a year or so earlier than I did. So I personally don’t think therapy will help him online or otherwise. Plus my ex supposedly was seeing a therapist, but telling them that everything going wrong was my fault when she was the one treating me like garbage and not the other way around. When playing this game I always felt uncomfortable with the point system of getting girl's underwear pics, and I would purposely get an easy way out to the end of the game JUST to get the debug menu and give points to myself. That, or I would plant bugs in the important rooms of the school. Even if every character is 18+ (which I know for sure was just a coverup to not have any more controversies) it felt really demeaning to get a point system like that. We could've gotten points by working at the cafe or doing tasks for info-chan/the students like a mini scavenger hunt. There's endless possibilities on making this game less creepy, but he just chose to project himself on it.

GOD the Mai Waifu thing is creepy, especially considering she was named after his sex doll (confirmed through email match analysis on a sex doll forum), who he regularly would dress up as underage anime characters like Rei Ayanami, a 14-year-old. And even though high schoolers can briefly be 18 before graduating and moving on to college/trade school/life as a non-student, it's absolutely still a huge no-no to date an 18-year-old who is still in high-school, especially someone who you presumably groomed for years over the internet like Mai Waifu's beloved programmer who she pledged her heart to likely did. A high schooler simply doesn't become an adult overnight and is still lacking in major life experience.

It's so frustrating how much we (former YS fans) let slide when we were young fans. All the clues and red flags were right there, yet we ended up just accepting the creepy encroachment of this stuff because it was a concept we liked and because we kept gaslighting ourselves and each other (and no doubt Alex gaslit us directly about it) into ignoring the creepiness or thinking it's just normal for a game like this to be needlessly sexual towards high schoolers in middle schooler uniforms and force sexual harassment/sexual assault to be a core, unavoidable game mechanic.
