Somehow this game had evaded me this whole time. I legitimately never imagined I would see the title "Sins of a Solar Empire" again despite how much I loved that game forever ago. EDIT: Oh man the nostalgia of thinking back to when I didn't even know what Steam was... Playing Sins, Age of Mythology, Empire at War...

Conquering the planets and then blowing them up as you loose connection sounds like a winning strategy for these guys.

They lose the resource production from the planet if they do that. It can deny opponents the planet but you are as well

It does look much more promising and deep, I love the Vasari now don't use credits anymore. But I do miss the pathing they had, where you could decide to not be the baddies too and your build tree was very different.

The new Vasari Alliance (the other Vasari subfaction) are probably the least bad in the game and try to have positive relationships including all the minor factions on the map. Their TEC tree and unique capabilities reflect this in-game.

It was the Vesari rebels in the first game, but I do hope that we finally see what they done or from what they are running (unknown enemy - 4th faction?).

The mobile map seems much more readable. I never liked the original game, I just didn’t click with the weird 4X/RTS pacing, and it still feels so… weirdly slow and spongey but the sequel has some very unique elements that sell the game a great deal! I know it’s not where the game shines, or is aimed, but the AI seems pretty dopey, even for a 4X/RTS game.
