An Extremely Hot Day On South Thailand Motorbike Tour EP4

With temperatures climbing to 40°C (104°F), this was an extremely hot day on the south thailand motorbike tour, Episode 4. Today was filled with so much stuff. It was again so hot, that I actually had to abandon my first attempt at filming this episode while riding my ADV 160 motorbike through southern Thailand. However, the things I saw today surely made it worthwhile. Join me as I check out a huge serpent sculpture at a monastery, stop at a beautiful dam, share two different hotels I stayed at, and even take you to a local night market in a small town. Although the temperature was less than inviting, I was able to make the best of this scorching hot day on my motorbike tour of the south of Thailand.

Yeah, that first place was so good that I’m actually gonna stop there for a day on the way back as well. There isn’t much around it, but just such a nice little resort. And yes, it’s ridiculously hot.

Gosh it is hot I liked that temple, added it to my list. The 2nd hotel with the cute dog was nice. I love how that night market at every stall they had the tiny fans above the food to keep the fly's away, instead of the workers constantly swatting at them. Good video, safe travels

Hey Matt, hope all is well. These videos are about a week behind. I’m completely fine now. But yeah, when the bike wouldn’t start at the temple, I was like WTF. Yesterday in the span of one hour on the bike, it went from 39°C to 29°C. I entered an area where the rain had previously come through, and it made it so much cooler.

I watched a youtube video on some cons of the adv150/160 and one that stood out was the problems as a result of the key fob and the bike sometimes not recognizing the device and failing to start. Your video presentation and editing was spot on in this video...well done 👍

I think it’s a great bike for touring. I haven’t had any problems with it. The reason it didn’t start was because I had hit the immobilizer button on the remote in my pocket. I’m glad you enjoyed this video. I’ve got 3 to 4 more from this series.

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s not as bad as everyone thinks. As long as I’m moving on the bike, I stay pretty cool because I’m totally covered so I’m not getting sunburned, wind burned or dehydrated. It’s the red lights, and then walking around wearing half the gear and carrying a 15 kg backpack that’s doing me in.

Just watched the first minutes and already want to post a comment. We are now in Luang Prabang (Laos) and after 11am it is no fun anymore to ride our scooter. Too hot. And the place you stayed in Surat Thani is the same we had the end of December 2023 before we flew to Bangkok and then Siem Reap.

I never really paid attention to "Summer" in SE Asia. I grew up in Malaysia decades ago and it has gotten much hotter these days, even my mom who hates cold says that so I definitely don't miss it! Wrong season to be on a motorbike you say, what about em foreigners riding in their mountain bikes in your earlier video, the best idea ever 😂. I just watched Greeny Travels (your fellow police officer) YT videos where he visited Koh Kret (Only active on weekends) and Koh Samet Island. Southern Thailand has only rainy season and summer. From November to February it is suitable for driving. I myself have plans to go to the southernmost point of the southern region.

A lot of people actually don’t realize this, but I stay so much cooler with all of this gear. If I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, I would constantly be getting sunburnt and dehydrated. As long as I’m moving, I stay pretty cool. It’s the red lights, and then when I’m walking around in the seat, that really gets me.

You picked the worst possible time to do motorcycle trip in Thailand, even my friend who's a Thai policeman have to stopped riding and then temporarily go back to drive car instead as he felt it was too hot for a weekend leisure motorcycle trip he was in Nakhon Pathom. I currently live in Kanchanaburi it hit 44 degrees Celsius or 111 degrees Fahrenheit the other day. I couldn't leave the A/C room from 11 AM to almost 7 PM it's too damn hot and dangerous to even think of doing anything productive outside, I actually have to cut down or cancelled my golf driving range practice sessions because of the heat is so unbearable even during the night.

You know it’s funny you ask that. I think I’ve only had KFC two or three times my whole life while living in the US. Here I’ve had it a couple dozen. I think like any other chain, McDonald’s, Burger King, etc., they do a very good job of replicating all over the world.
