I use the engraving burr to remove some of the epoxy around the broken pin. Next i clean it up using a 50/50 mix of DCM to absolute isopropanol. Next a dab of solder paste and solder to form a bead. Next apply a pin made of wire. I found sticky poster tack holds the IC and the wire very well when soldering.❤

@@igorperuchi2114 Dichlormethane, also known as methylene chloride, an extremely powerful solvent capable of dissolving most polymers, with exception of Teflon and high grade HDPE and a handful others, but as a rule, it instantly eats through anything, including protective gloves and protective goggles, and of course baffles and blast shields. It was previously used in paint strippers. It causes a very memorable extreme pain if it gets on skin, and did i mention it takes a split second to penetrate most gloves? It requires special handling; however its toxicity is actually limited and surprisingly low for such an angry substance, it can be broken down by the body, so you don't need to be concerned about ongoing health damage from occasional use. Given how difficult epoxy is generally to attack in any chemical way, using dichlormethane mix is actually... smart.

As a last resort, maybe. In this case, Pin 1 of this serial EEPROM is a NC, and has no function. When they say, "now it will work", yea, no, if it wasn't working before, it won't after you solder onto a "No Connection" Pin. [I get the thought though, just odd that it happens to have no function here.]
