Hi Chuck, love your water bottle freezing indicator! Unfortunately I see a problem with your setup, in that, hot air rises, even pads directly contacting object do much better mounted on the bottom, so the heat rises into the battery! Also your temp sensor is right near the heating pad so reading a bit high, I think. So I’d mount one orange heat pad under each battery, and not use the new pad that always shuts off after a certain time. If you’re at home and the lithium’s are above 30%, just take them inside your house, or heated garage if you have one. Lithium’s don’t sulphate so no need to ever worry if they’re part charged. Just don’t let them discharge below about 12.5 volts, or a bit higher. Take care, and God bless.

@@murraysissons1809 Good morning friend, thank you for your comments and thoughts. The water bottle trick is just a little old school! I really thought about putting the water tank heaters under the batteries, but I am leery that the water tank heaters aren't designed for that purpose? The weight of the batteries bouncing down the road they cause a problem and Warren wires may cause a fire

Great video! Can you add a temperature sensor to your charge controller? My controller has a temp sensor that acts as low temperature protection

Good morning friend, thank you for your comments and thoughts. I do have a sensor I can put on my charge controller, but I haven't tried it yet. The reason being, I don't want to let the batteries get below freezing!

Tesla does it: there is actually a 12 volt lead acid battery in Teslas to run the 12 volt things. It charges with the same alternator technology as on gas cars, so only when the high volt lithium battery pack auto is running/rolling. Gas cars still need lead acid for starter batteries because of that same alternator technology and also internal combustion engines and both are designed to work with lead acid. If you have isolate connect controls on different battery type banks, it can and does work.

@@OWK000 Good morning new friend, thank you for your comments. Looks like there's always going to be a place for lead acid batteries? If not done so please subscribe to my channel as I have subscribed to yours. Thank you for watching and may God bless you!

Not an idiot... your batteries seem to be playing well together and liking their blanket. An idiot would warm the batteries by making a campfire on top of them.
