An important lesson that made me a better animator.

When I first started animating, I was highly fixated on making every frame look great: full of detail, correct anatomy, and easy to look at by themselves. I later realized that perfecting each frame in this way is really just a waste of time.
Not only is it a waste of time, but it also reduced the possibility of more energetic animations. To add energy to a character/object, you need those absurd frames every now and then.
While I learned this lesson over time, I see a lot of new animators who I feel are intimidated by the idea of creating more engaging movements, not realizing that every frame doesn't need to make sense on their own.

I'm starting to notice this too, i started making animations not long ago, and always tried to make every single frame perfect, no jaggies, perfect anatomy and shading and stuff. But the time all that takes is tedious! i still have to find a balance, since the client is quite picky

Does this also apply to video game animations? What if you wanna make a screenshot of some gameplay for a steam page or something idk then you get jumpscared by those horrible frames💀
