We're impressed! We hear a lot of artists new to digital say they struggle at first because it doesn't behave like paint, but clearly, your ability with physical media was a huge advantage in the end. We'd be interested to see how/if this informs how you use pencils/pens/paint now!

I really needed this reminder to face my art fears. I'm preventing so much growth by just not trusting myself to even begin a project. The fear of failing before even starting is something us artists all struggle with and it's so important to overcome it from time to time! I was inspired by your make it gay series and started painting "The fisherman and the siren" just like you did, but got frustrated so quickly because I wasn't used to either acrylic or a bigger scale canvas. I have cleaned my room since then and it has just been sitting on my easel, blanky looking at me. I think I will try to give it the attention the unfinished piece is yearning for, thanks for the inspiration!

You probably have heard of them, but drawfee is one of my favorite art channels. I recommend them cuz they're experienced digital artists but openly admit that a big part of art is futzing around and struggling. Your art in this was really good and I hope you keep it up!

As someone who has the exact opposite fear (doing traditional art) this video was amazing for me. I used to do traditional media ALL THE TIME until I got procreate and just, got scared of traditional. Hello! I am watching this while in the hospital (long story short I had three surgeries over the span of three weeks all on the same hip) and my nurses came in to check on me and ended up watching this with me! They loved your video and think you are very pretty and think you are being way too hard on yourself. Also this was a very fun video to watch and I adore all the art I’ve seen you do. Sorry if it doesn’t make any sense I am on lots of pain meds lol.

i used to do a well balance or traditional and digital art and i threw myself into traditional lately cuz i was excited to start a new sketchbook so it became a comfort. esp when digital art just takes so much out of me than it used before i was disabled. being disabled and just sitting at my desk for like 3 hours staring at a screen tbh sucks now. ive been trying to take more breaks or when i start to feel tired just simply stop for the day. i really should get into clip studio too haha. i currently use two different free programs for digital art/animation

Thank you for this video. I am in the same boat with getting back into digital art because I did so much traditional art in my master's program. Since finishing I've been in an art rut and want to get back into making art again especially digital art so this video really helps with that. I draw mostly on my iPad using Procreate and Realistic Paint studio; I found that Clip Studio just wasn't for me because the UI was just too busy and I prefer something cleaner and not so overwhelming. I may utilize this challenge and use the Google Arts and Culture app and Pinterest to find references.
