For demon prince when he has the meteor attack: he takes increased poise damage during his charging up of the meteor. You have to stagger him out of it and the meteors will lose all their tracking and do significantly less damage. The fire orbs can also be distracted with an alluring skull.

the first phase of abyss watchers wouldve worked much better with a brawler-like combat system akin to bloodborne. Unfortunately, having two equally aggressive enemies ganking in a duel-focused ds3 combat system reminds me of the worst parts of elden ring (valiant gargoyles, godskin duo) and incentivizes me to run around until the third one spawns.. The second phase is nice tho.

I wish ds3 was as big as ds2 and I’m really tired of ppls saying it’s bad, it’s not! I even like ds2 more than 3 I’ll say that, cuz of the contents and varieties of builds and many paths to go, unlike ds3 when I wonna explore more of it it’s just a dispointment for me that 90% of its world is just for view like a wallpaper that you really want to explore but you can’t it’s not real😢! Also on the topic of bosses they’re easy to kill I’ll say this, Although I didnt say this lightly okay, mainly cuz I didn’t use all the weapons, and you can forget about the spells and miracle in ds3 they do poor dmg and animation is as slow as a swing a ultra great sword, maybe.even slower lol

I know this is a ds3 video but i wanted to metion this since it annoys me to no end. Personally, i still can't understand the godskin duo hatred. They both are fun on their own so it's not doomed like the gargoyles for instance. They are also never not a threat since they both have acces to fireballs so it doesn't become a 1v1. The pillars can separate them well and their ability to destroy them adds both escalating difficulty as the fight progresses and adds strategy to how much you want to damage either godskin and when to trigger each phase 2. Since these bosses appeared earlier in the game, this also acts as a test to see your mastery of both their movesets. The game rewards your skill by being able to kill the godskins before it turns back into a duo fight witch makes to whole fight a lot easier. By all accounts this boss checks the criteria of a good duo boss so im baffled its rated so lowly l. So, if this fight is so bad compared to the others, how about we go over them and see how they stack up. O&S is boiled down to fighting smalls behind a pillar while Biggie can only watch, afterwards its a boring phase 2 with an annoying aoe to drag the fight out. Dark lurker is alright but hes a bit spammy and his run back is horrendous. Abyss wachters can be backstabed to death and are in general to squishy to put up a real fight. Friede is a fantastic fight but Ariendel is only aight, with Friede's only contribution being an occasional ice aoe and a heal to extend the fight a little. Finally, the demon princes, while doing a great job at being a duo fight, are just not fun to fight themselves. There attacks are just swipes and some Poison aoe's. They're big to the point where the camera starts flipping out. The hitboxes are janky and they have way more hp then there moveset is ready to support without it becoming a boring slog.

I normally never discuss the mini bosses in Elden Ring since they don’t have the same care put into them as the major ones, yet I share your opinion regarding the godskin duo in the sense that they are not a bad boss. While I still don’t like them as much as Demon Prince or O&S, their arena is great for breaking agro and dodging the noble’s phase 2 spins. To add to your comment they are also abysmally weak to sleep and eternal sleep, a status that allows you to break agro by taking one out of the fight for a while (or both). The whole series revolves around trial and error, from damage types or dodging etc. and when I see the excuse some people give for not using different strategies and punishing boss weaknesses through discovery if it’s too hard hard for them, is a mindset that bothers me

I think the duo boss ai was too strong in general in the past but it was patched, and also, a boss that is mostly a test of strategy and positioning doesn’t fit with the mindless dodge dodge hit that gets your heart racing

@@pastorpatrick6893 The input reading fireballs can geniunely be more helpful than harmful, in my opinion. I've fought both Godskins in and outside of their arena, and every time they do their fireball, you still have the time to drink, roll and punish their attack. It actually just becomes free damage, with the bonus of you being able to heal as well. If you really don't have the time, for whatever reason, the Godskins' arena gives you plenty of room to find cover in.

KZbinr forgot to mention Gael's summon sign teleport unsubscribe!1!1!!! But seriously Gael is unsurprisingly my favorite boss of the trilogy, but equally because of the fight itself, but also what he represents. The fact that Gael is a hollow nobody in search of the enigmatic dark soul makes Gael a parallel to the player character in a masterfully understated way, and the final boss of the trilogy being, essentially, you, was such a great sendoff. Two nobodies fighting for nothing at the end of the world, a fitting culmination of everything the dark souls trilogy established. And magic is always going to be my favorite build in any game, whether its good or not. FromSoft puts so much work into making the spells all look and feel great to cast, and there's always some sort of melee option available to hybridize the build if you have a fight like Gael constantly trying to close the distance on you. Awesome work Cosmic, bless the algorithm for guiding me to this channel, can't wait to see what you do going forward

Strongly disagree on the part about Fromsoft not doing a good duo fight since Demon Princes. Twin Gargoyles was a lot of fun. Positioning them so that they use their charges and big jump backs to keep them seperated in that huge arena was a lot of fun. If DS2 has the worst parts of the series highlighted then I'd say the best parts of the DS series are all in DS3. Honestly I prefer how combat feels and flows more in DS3 than all the other Souls games with the exception of Bloodborne. The themes lore and story of DS3 is also my favorite of all the games because I love the Dark Souls universe immensely. So when DS3 does its fan service I never get upset instead I feel absolutely overjoyed. The worst bosses in this game for me fall into C tier, and even then they're not really bad just a little mediocre yet still manage to be memorable. Unlike the other Soulsborne games I don't think there's a single boss in DS3 that didn't leave an impression on me. The one big flaw with DS3 that bothered me was how linear the game felt at times which only bothers me in this game as the maps in the other games are wider and allow for different paths or at minimal the illusion of multiple paths without it being obvious as it was in this game. The only time your path actually opens up is to choose Aldritch or Yhorm and even then you're still railroaded on those said paths, but this to me is a small flaw in an otherwise legendary game. Dex builds are what I generally run in these games. The exceptions being Elden Ring where I run every build and tend to gravitate to magic spell sword builds with either Faith or Int, and DS2 where I tend to use Strength builds more for reliability. Playing my preferred Dex build in DS3 for the first time felt so good, the game felt like it was catering to me at every turn which likely helped me to love it more. I run Dex because I enjoy really learning bosses and their movesets. Combine that with the overall good roster of bosses along with the DS fan service that I clearly love and it's easy to see why I really adore DS3.

First off phenomenal review definitely a joy to watch this series and I cannot wait to see all 207 Elden Ring bosses get ranked lmao. However, I would like to offer another opinion on some of the bosses of DS3 because I think this game gets a bit too much credit for the bosses sometimes, especially since some of them are absolutely mediocre. Alright first thing first, Nameless King is so close to being my favorite DS3 boss. However, King of the Storm is actual garbage there are like a total of 5 moves and 3 of them are ranged attacks with 1 optimal punishable attack. It doesn't feel like a genuine phase 1, especially since this is the only other dragon/wyvern encounter in the base game, so this leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. Also, I would mention that sometimes he feels like he's really not fluid (he takes too many pauses between his attacks). I always compare him to Mohg (my favorite soul's boss), but he just doesn't do the delayed move set style much justice in comparison. Friede is really cool, but 3 phases are kind of obnoxious at times and really tedious. Especially since the phase 1 just feels like a half-baked version of phase 3. Lastly why did they give into the Maria problem again, why can I just spam my weapon on the boss and learn like a quarter of the move set for one of the hardest soul's bosses. Demon Princes are really cool; I think that they just aren't really memorable as an encounter. Also, I would argue that ER and SOTE did try some duo fights with some interesting results. A few examples of some successful duos in ER are probably the duo crucible (Great Spear variant tends to spam at range and is pretty easy to separate once one goes into phase 2) and Tricia and Leo (The perfumer is a great support who really just throws a mist that can be really fun with the hectic move set of Leonine). These two are the best examples of how ER duo fights can be good even though they are kind of lazy. However, SOTE did present a really interesting solution to duo fights with Putrescent knight: what if the boss had duo boss moves along with a standard move set. Of course, I am talking about that lovely charge that he does with the horse. I think this is probably the future with duo fights, the boss itself will incorporate the moves so that you have to worry about two enemies, but it still has a regular singular boss move set to accompany it. Sorry about the tangent, just thought that the criticism for ER might get a little extreme and kind of unwarranted. Continuing onto the last two bosses I have issues with, Midir is definitely suffering from a bloated amount of HP and a really mid phase 2. Midir needed to get some new melee combos instead of just doing the same charge combo twice, a homing spirit spell and an AOE. The HP is a problem because he feels like a slog you have to get through, it's not a matter of difficulty but enjoyment. He isn't complex enough to warrant the length. Ok the best boss in souls Gael is really fun, but I'm going to be real he's held back by DS3's combat being so basic. I think ER has spoiled me with the plethora of ways to evade an attack, but the only way to dodge in DS3 is rolling. I would also say his phase one has some attacks that he holds like he's going to do a follow up but it just never comes. Ok I lied I need to talk about another boss Soul of Cinder, damn near perfect, but his phase 1 is kind of atrocious mechanically. Genuinely the boss has no good openings in the curved sword phase unless he is buffing himself and the magic phase is so boring. I would also say the other two aren't all that exciting. Personally imagine if he made call backs to the other lords of cinder like Yhorm and the abyss watchers. It would give him some much-needed interesting variety in style cause the other phases just are so boring to see. Gwyn phase is cool, but I wish he had a more interesting super attack than a big combo. Sick boss, but massively disappointing on what he could have been. Now I want to say that I love almost all these bosses (fuck you Friede) so these criticisms come from a place of love not hate.
@pietrocatalano42852 күн бұрын
One thing I'll say about the quality of DS3 bosses is that it's definitely overrated. Plenty of people will say that Dark Souls 3 has an absolutely peak boss roster, but let's look at it objectively: Iudex Gundyr's a really good tutorial boss with only some minor camera issues and a shock value that gradually decreases the more you fight him. Great boss, but not quite the best tutorial boss we've ever had. Vordt's carried hard by his OST. Without it, he's pretty basic and way too easy for how intimidating he's made out to be. Curse Rotted Greatwood is shit. Horrible soundtrack, plenty of camera issues, mobs that contribute nothing to the fight, an annoying gimmick and bad hitboxes to top it all off. Crystal Sage is annoying to fight, especially as a mage, but far too easy to steamroll on a strenght build. He's just not balanced well and spends most of his time running from you. The Deacons are at best repetitive and boring, at worst extremely frustrating if you don't have the right DPS to take them down before their instakill activates. Abyss Watchers are fantastic. My only nitpick is that while two of them are aggroed on to you, your opportunites to be agressive are very limited, which means there's always a break in the rythm of the fight. So the early game has 2 good bosses and 3 bad ones. Moving on to the middlegame, Old Demon King is a nice, slow and simple boss. It's not particularily great, but it's not supposed to be. It's old and weak, and his fight reflects that perfectly. High Lord Wolnir's ass. The fight's over way too quickly, to the point that it's entirely possible for the average player to skip the second phase entirely, the summons are annoying and make the fight way too hectic, and the boss' moveset is extremely simple. Cool introduction though. Pontiff is peak. Nuff said. Aldrich is mid. Nuff said. I will say that the rain of arrows isn't quite as bad as people make it out to be, though. Yhorm's far, far too easy. Rykard did his fight a hundred times better. If by some miracle you manage to complete the Siegward questiline you do get a really cool cutscene though. So the middlegame also has 2 good bosses and 3 bad ones. Dancer's very, very good. A bit underrated, in my opinion, plus you can take her on before even Vordt for a real challenge and amazing rewards for succeeding. Oceiros is fairly mid. The charge isn't as obnoxiously bullshit as some seem to think, but it certainly doesn't make the fight any better. Dragonslayer Armor's really good, a bit more so than the Dancer, although he's also much too intuitively easy to dodge and the butterfly's projectile spam is so harmless that it just feels tacked on for the sake of making the fight look more complicated. In reality, it adds basically nothing to the fight. Ancient Wyvern's trash. Nuff said. The Nameless King part of the Nameless King fight is peak. The first phase, on the other hand, is fairly annoying if you're locked on. It's really the anti-Dark Souls 3 fight, with unintuitive dodge timings, slow but still hefty attacks and an emphasis on *not* locking on (at least for the first part of it). It's definitely designed to throw players off and is a welcome break from the repetitive flow of combat up till now. Champion Gundyr's brutally difficult without parries and stunningly easy with them. An excellent boss, but I wish there was a way to make the difficulty less extreme in both ways. Twin Princes are peak. Literally the only problem I can think of is that sometimes Lorian's teleportation will break your lock on and it will be a bit hard to track him. That's it. Soul of Cinder is a really good final boss brought slightly down by a couple of annoying attacks in the magic phase and the entirety of the relentless scimitar phase. Still really good though. So the endgame has 2 bad bosses and 5 good ones. It's definitely where the best content of Dark Souls 3 is concentrated. Champion's Gravetender is my personal least favourite boss of the game, but I've already talked way too much, so I'll spare you the rant. Sister Friede is both a brutally difficult endurance fight and an excellent duo fight, so it's easily among the best fights in Dark Souls 3. So Ashes of Ariandel has one 0/10 boss and a 10/10 boss, for a perfectly average 5/10. Demon Prince is the best duo fight in Souls history. Halflight's bad and gets completely and utterly overshadowed by every other boss in his DLC. It's not even remotely close. Midir's the best dragon boss fight in Souls history (debatable, but I still at the very least like him more than all the other dragons). It's a bit of a simple fight once you start rolling backwards, but there's still plenty of attacks to keep you wary at all times. Gael is the best fight in Souls history, period. So the Ringed City has 3 10/10 bosses and one 5/10 boss. It's still easily the best part of Dark Souls, certainly in terms of boss quality. In summary, Dark Souls 3 has a weak earlygame and middlegame lineup, followed by an extremely strong lategame/postgame lineup, which I believe is the reason for why so many are so heavily skewed in Dark Souls 3's favor when it comes to boss quality. Half of the game's pretty bad, the other half is pretty great. TLDR: Dark Souls 3 is just a bit over a 6/10 in overall boss quality. Not a 10/10. Sorry for the very long yapping session.

the reason why so many people still think ds3 bosses are the best is because they know how to fight them and have even grown a bit attached to them. Mechanically ER and Sekiro are objectively way better but ds3 bosses are very iconic and older (in the souls community older = better). They‘re also way easier and simpler than ER‘s which means that people will get less frustrated fighting them and therefore like them more.
@TheOneWhoSouls14052 күн бұрын
When deciding which game has the best boss lineup you have to take into account not only how many good bosses there are, but also how many bosses there are in the game. Here's a quick rundown of how many bosses exist in each game: Ds1 has 22 base game bosses, 26 if you include the dlc bosses. Ds2 has 32 main game bosses, 41 if you include the 9 dlc bosses. Ds3 has 19 base game bosses, 25 if you include the dlc bosses. Bloodborne has 17 main game bosses, over 20 chalice dungeon bosses, and an extra 5 from the dlc. Sekiro has 17 bosses. And Elden Ring has 238 base game bosses and 83 dlc bosses which give you a total of 321 bosses. It's true that Ds3 doesn't have the most amount of good bosses, but it's also the game with the second least amount of bosses. The only game with less bosses is sekiro. Bloodborne would have less, but the chalice dungeons add so many bosses to the base game. Ds2 is the game with the worst boss lineup, with over half of the bosses ranging from mid to awful. The bosses are incredibly easy mechanically, and often only have 3 moves that they can consistently do, making them pushovers. Of the 41 bosses, at least 26 of them range from mid to awful. Ds1 has 26 total bosses, with 12 of them ranging from mid to awful. Almost half. Bloodborne has 22 bosses (not including chalice dungeons). 14 of the 22 range from mid to awful. The chalice dungeons also add onto it, with over 20 forgettable bosses. Sekiro has 17 bosses with a maximum of 8 bosses ranging from mid to awful (this is debatable). Elden Ring has 321 bosses. Most are forgettable filler bosses. I'm not trying to figure out how many of these range from mid to awful because that would take years off my life. Ds3 has 25 bosses. Of the 25, 7 (possibly 8) range from mid the awful. Seeing all of these, the only game that debatably has a better boss lineup is sekiro. Elden Ring can't because of its massive amount of filler bosses (though it is an open world game, so if you want to give it pass you can). Another reason why ds3's boss lineup is held at such a high regard is because it basically laid the foundation for elden ring's combat and bosses.
@TimothyStrauß-x2j2 күн бұрын
@@TheOneWhoSouls1405 yeah true but at least imo you should only count the main remembrance bosses in ER otherwise you‘d also have to count mini bosses fron sekiro and non-respawnable enemies in ds. If we look at things this way ER has the most S tier bosses (9) while ds3 only has 4. Sekiro has 2 or 5 depending if you count inner versions. So ER has the largest amount of S-tier bosses but also an incredibly small amount of bad bosses: 5 (godskins, fire giant, jori, gideon, hippo) that are mandatory or remembrance bosses. Ds3 has greatwood, sage, deacons, wolnir, aldritch, halflight that are mandatory bad bosses, so one more than ER. Sekiro has 2 bad bosses (folding monkeys, ape duo). So if you go by least amount of bad bosses sekiro woulf win, otherwise ER clears. But tbf ds3 bosses are way more creative than ER‘s where basically every fight is just a 1v1 with some dude.
