So long as they have private institutions that are for profit it will always be like this

Girl, your brother lied to you because he's a junkie!!! I'm sorry this happened, but he talked you into sending that money & he got high with it!!! I know this because I spent 18 years in TDOC.

We’ve been requesting law enforcement reform (ending qualified immunity), criminal justice reform, and an end of for-profit private jails, prisons, interlocks, Jpay, GPS monitoring, etc, for years, yet here we are. Counties, states, and the federal government need to be prevented from outsourcing their work - their jobs - they don’t want to do to for-profit private companies, because this is the result.

It does no good to request, they must be forced by everyday people.

@@howlinwulf yeah. We have to hold our elected representatives accountable, the group responsible for this mess.

Here in NY, privatized prisons are banned. More states should stop being balls deep into G4S or whatever greedy corporation absorbed the responsibilities.

Do you not remember President Trump’s Criminal Justice Reform? News 5 Nashville never reported of course!

@@julialane6645absolutely 100% wrong. Plenty of people are in jail in Tennessee for non-violent misdemeanors, usually for non-violent drug offences. At the exact same time when drug treatment companies come in wanting to open intensive outpatient treatment programs the leaders in these local communities throw a fit til the whole idea is usually dropped. Luckily a recent vote passed in Putnam county despite the efforts of local officials to block it, and despite the sheriff spreading straight up misinformation and lies about that type of treatment.

These prisons need shut down. Along with terry vs Ohio penn vs mimms and qualified immunity. Thats the craziest laws ever.

and who is paying the guards? ohh yeah the inmates. so shame on the inmates for making the place worse. if they behaved, if they didn't pay the guards; none of this would have happened.
@vladimirenlow438811 күн бұрын
This sounds like something you'd hear out of a prison in Central America, not the US. The inmates are quite literally running the place... where are the staff while all this is going on? Where were they when that one guy overdosed in front of everyone, or when Joshua got beaten up by that gang?
@BrysonCityDashCam2871311 күн бұрын
This is a very regular CoreCivic story - sadly. Similar things happened at all the CoreCivic facilities in Hardiman County TN and Sayre Oklahoma and Eloy Arizona. They don't hire law enforcement or corrections officers - they hire Customer Service Associates. The policy is that way so they can pay under standard...and also make sure people don't know Constitutionality..

@@RabbitWatchShopit's not that far off. CoreCivic and TDOC has had or has Prison Overcrowding, Extortion from guards on Imates. Extortion inmate on guards and Inmate on Inmate. Gangs working as correctional guards and being involved in gangs or out right being a gang member. Mutiple Guards pregnant with inmates children. Guards SA women inmates and as a result inmate became pregnant. Guards SA inmates men and women, guards turning a blind eye and allowing SA and Assults on other inmates. Inmates kidnapping inmates, guards knowingly housing inmates with other inmates that have a history of assaulting, killing, extortion, SA, and torturing other inmates. Guards delivering contraband from food, drugs, liquor, cigarettes, cell phones, clothes, sneakers, jewelry, money/cashapp and so on. Guards giving inmates families money so that inmate can have commissary money. Guards knowing inmates are being extorted for commissary, phone cards mins, and beatings for rent. Guards knowingly seeing inmates being starved and not interfering. Inhumane living conditions, imates being denied mental health treatment, medical, dental, and vision treatment. Overdoses is common occurrence, inmates poisoning other inmates and guards turning blind eye and or not doing rounds/ security check inmate count/checks. Suicide threats being ignored and bodies being left for days in cells. Guards knowing inmates are withholding fellow inmates commissary and food starvation. Guards watching sexual assaults being enforced or traded for debt/punishment or for any reason or just because. Inmates families being extorted. Beatings inmate vs inmate and guards vs inmate. So just because we have a betrer looking prison then what a third world Country has means not much. Unsanitary and inhumane living conditions is a common practice. Not contacting family when a family member is dying or is dead and lying about the cause of death. Warden will decide how an inmate dies ultimately. Correctional Guards will not work at Turner correctional because its not safe!!! I could keep going.

Former CO at that prison, tons of the officers hired should not be hired because they simply don’t care enough to do their rounds. As long as they stay out of each other’s way mutually the inmates do what they want. If you care about your position, you won’t last because that requires doing your job, and that means getting involved in the safety and security of the inmates which they don’t like that because it interrupts their inside gang work. It turns into the officers life literally possibly getting in harms way in a manner that is much worse than obviously working there. I worked in Bravo unit for a while and at one point B-B pod was threatening to stab me up because I wouldn’t open the pod door for them to run freely. Eventually the door had to be opened because of the evening shift workers coming back but I would be lying if I said I felt numb for a minute because at that moment I legit thought I was going to get stabbed up so I handed my keys over to the female officers in the unit with me and they stood in front of me between them in the hallway… all because I was doing my job.

Prisons are a business that gives those running them incentives to send people there. You have a dispute with someone in your personal life, they grease the right palms and you end up there where not only your rights as an American are violated but your rights as a human being. You can say won’t happen but it already has.
