Yeah I agree with that, it isn't awful on its own. It's just when you start to compare it to other games is when it starts to look a lot worse.

Honestly looking at the statistics of both sonic 4 ep 2 and sonic mania, they both have a 3:1 ratio of rehashed levels to original stages, but sonic mania is waaay better while sonic 4 ep 2 isnt bad its just really boring

Tbh I'd argue Ep2 is even worse because it's not even notably terrible at least with a game as bad as Ep1 there's an experience of awfulness that most games simply cannot replicate

@@Helios2737 that is very true, i would rather play ep1 if im being honest, there is some charm from it being horrible, with ep2 all the charm is gone, and the game is self aware that its ripping off previous games so that makes it even worse, at least we got mania, because otherwise we would be stuck with the very good classics and the absolute bottom of the barrel sonic 4

I wonder how joshscorcher would react to negative reviews of Sonic 4 including this one after yelling in the honorable mentions portion of his list of Top 10 Sonic Games, “WHY DO PEOPLE HATE THIS GAME?!” and I know what you’re thinking, “Wait, a beloved/popular KZbinr did that?!” and as much as I hate to say it, as someone who would also defend Sonic Forces in the same video over Unleashed (which has its faults, there’s no denying that, but lest we forget that it also feels like an epic with everything else it does do well), yes, yes, he did.

this game was made by Dimps, so attacking their level design isn't fair. somewhere after Sonic Advance 3, they forgot how to make good Sonic zones. =)
