An interesting failure with a tumble dryer but I don't think it's worth repairing!

I know you’ve given up on this one, but for future reference, you can reset the white spot thermostat by inserting a pin in the small hole in top of it and push until it clicks. (Make sure the power is off beforehand)

Eoin me auld mucker. That thermostat that you are pushing on, when you opened up the element first you clicked in the one shot, and when u got the second one u pushed it with ur finger. They are supposed to be out. It's a one shot thermo, u pushing it in makes it open circuit and not work. Sometimes when the thermostat is OK, the float switch in the pump is raised with lint stuck under it and it won't heat as it thinks it's full of water. But stop pressing them stats, it breaks them.

I’m halfway through this and I’m thinking why you not do a IR on the machine…?

I just don't enjoy the fact about the new washers technology that A. everything is plastics, and B. everything is controlled by micro switches and teeny tiny circuit boards. the 2.5 kw heater is switched by a 10 by 10 mm relay. I have a 800 euro washer, that the circuit board just blew open one day out of the blue. Some of the tracks melted away. for no reason. the new circuit board was 150 euros. I just miss the days when you could buy the BOSCH washers in 1990s that had the ENORMOUS physical switching barrels and the thing would not break, or burn out, and the only thing that would ever break was the brushes on the motor that would wear out, or the plastic knob that would occasionally split from the sheer force needed to turn the switching barrel. The god damned tub was made from stainless steel and could be split in two halves to change the main bearing or to deep clean the machine, and the tub was held together with 5 huge and dangerously snappy spring clamps.

i know what you mean .What concerns me is how thin the mains lead is on some of these machines .Also the flimsy moulded plugs that burn so easily

It's not un fixable, you have just lost interest in something you dont need. I've been there. And it's Made in the uk :-D Have a go fixing the heater, you cant lose anything.
