Fix Indesit/ Hotpoint Condenser Tumble Dryer. Empty water warning light is on and doesn’t heat up 😱

Hello guys,
In this video I’ll show a common error and how to fix it.
This error is in the water pump and indicated on the control panel as water empty warning light is on. Also, despite the programme is running, but doesn’t start to heat up.

Yah, thank you. Not the pump in my case, but thought I would take off the black pipe first and blow through. A massive gunk load came out the end and now no light and heat. Pointed me in the right direction...

Hey pal, can I ask you, why would the light come on if your.pipe was blocked? I'm really struggling with mine, the pump is working, the rubber blade is fine and strong, no water in the pump chamber but I am still getting the empty water light? Any help would be appreciated thank you

just watched this vid and OMG solved my problem had a newer model so did have to replace the blade on pump HATS OFF TO U SAVED ME SOME MONEY THERE 10/10👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Great video, my dryer wasn’t working, followed this to. a T and the dryer is working again, paddle was fine in my old pump but clearly something wasn’t working because switching the pump fixed the issue, very well filmed and such very helpful, thank you for making this. 😊

Although it seems the pump wasn’t the problem because the light didn’t come on on straight away and I assumed it was fixed but the water tank still isn’t filling up

Until the back tank didn’t filled up won’t the light turn on. Probably the pump is broken.

What a great video helped me fix my machine There was nothing left of the paddle. Wife still not happy 😢 have to wait 2 weeks for the part to arrive lol it is Christmas 🎅 time after all 😂😂😂

Mine stopped working 2 years ago so replaced this pump as impeller was broken and all good,now it’s not working again so I’ve taken it apart again and it’s all ok but I’ve no continuity on on of the thermostats in the heater I’ve ordered a new heater etc but my question is why is the pump running constantly is it because thermostat is broken I hope a new heater and thermostat stats will sort problem.cheers

Hi, Washing machines, dishwashers and tumble dryer’s pump is programmed as when you start a program firstly try to remove remaining water from the system. And continuously switch on during programs.

@@georgesworkshop8600 it’s got a micro switch and a float the dryer has no programs it’s just a timer and on and off switch it’s a Hotpoint condenser dryer ?

Hi, Frequently clean the filter and the condenser will let you avoid from warming.

Followed all the steps, the paddle in the pump was fine. I just cleaned everything thoroughly anyway and now the dryer is working again.

Great Video, it really helped. Would there be a way of testing whether the pump has gone fully? I ask, as I have taken the pump apart and the paddle hasn't fallen to pieces, but it is certainly very flimsy and seems quite stretched and warped. Without knowing how stiff the paddle's are supposed to be, Im unsure if its the paddle that needs replacing or if its the pump that has packed up? Any ideas how I could test this without just replacing the paddle, putting it all back together, only then to find its the pump that needs changing altogether?

Hi, If you can turn around the paddle by your fingers, then definitely needs to be replaced. That’s mean paddle move separately from axis and that is not good. Paddle should be firm rubbery.

So I've flowed your video and noticed my dryer doesnt have the clear pipe and the plastic connection that it slot onto at the top, how to find part snd how important is it if i change the pump as well

Hi, That’s the overflow tube of the water tank. If it’s fully loaded on that tube will go back the excessive water to the pump. That water in the pump will lift the floating switch and stop the machine.

I had no heating so i took panels off then looked at heating element - and it was now working! I put it back together and put a few towels in. Checked it after a while - drum not turning! I saw belt snapped. Bought new belt put it on. Heating working and drum turning but Empty water light' on.....and no water in top collecting tray! I pulled that plastic cover off the back and water in bottom. I removed water. It's been kept a clean machine. blew down pipes all good. So, how do I know if the pump is not working? And how would a faulty pump affect the heating event?

Hi, Firstly, if the pump can’t pump the water into the upper tank it will stop the machine to avoid from more water in the bottom tank. May just little paddle need to replace not the whole pump.

@@georgesworkshop8600 Hi I looked at the paddle it was worn. But i check on eBay the only ones i see all look the same as mine but my Indesit IDC8T3 is not listed on the eBay lists. Are they all the same? Just wondering if you knew at all...they're only a few quid anyway to buy.

Mine from a group who help disabled i couldnt take it a part but insurance ran out on it last week i tilted the machine unplugged and drained fine and working also

Not sure what to do the bottom tank collects the water but nothing in the pull put draw top left, heats up fine just water problem

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. As you explained what is happening I could say the water pump is broken. Can’t push up the water into the water tank and when it’s full the bottom tank it will stop your machine.

Hi, In this video it has been replaced the water pump, that push the condensed water into water tank. You can find on ebay, if you search for make and model number.
